Just purchased the pre-order of the new OPPO...excited for this wonderful piece of equipment.

I currently have a Samsung Dual HD/Bluray player I purchased 3 years ago. Should be a nice upgrade in quality and speed.

Anybody else getting this unit. I held off the BDP-83 for this player, however I hear that beastis amazing as well.

Wow, I'm surprised you did that, considering all the hoopla about the problems with the unit!

Naaaaaaahhhhh.... Jus' kiddin'. Enjoy it and congratulations! smile

How/where did you pre-order it?

I signed up with Oppo a while back and they stated that they would let me know when the unit would ship. The link for early pre-order came in today, so I jumped on it. I trust Oppo to fix any issues they may have with this player wink . Well, I sure hope so, however given that my last player was notorious for issues and not playing discs properly.

I've got a Panasonic DMP-BD65 and have had a lot of problems with it, which seem to keep getting worse. I'll be happy the day I can toss it into the trash when I get my Oppo.

Thanks, I just got the pre-order email. Like you, I am also taking the plunge and getting one early.

I got the same E-Mail, however, unlike the last time as an early adopter when I ordered the BDP83 direct from Oppo,at this particular time, I am going to wait and order it from one of the local authorized resellers who indicated they will get a shipment of them a couple of weeks after the "official" introduction.

Around these parts with the dollar at or near par with the US, I can avoid the shipping and brokerage charges by picking it up locally. Recently they have been selling the Oppos at or near the same price in Can. dollars. By waiting I will save myself a considerable amount of coin and by then any bugs it might have will have been worked out. Even with the BDP83, right from the outset I never had any issues with it so I don't worry anyway.

I've had the DMP-BD35 for 2 years and never had one problem with it. I also agrre that if I would have the money, I would probably try an Oppo just to see exactly what is the noise around it all about.

I had the DMP-BD35 before this one and never had a problem with it either (other than I just wore it out). But the DMP-BD65 stops playing at least once during a movie, pauses for a couple of seconds with blank tv screen, then resumes playing. It doesn't matter which firmware I use. I've tried both older and newer. Yesterday for the first time while I was playing a music CD, it started all over again with the HELLO message and I had to press play to get it going.

I traded it in once, during the 30 day trade in period at Best Buy, because the first one I bought had the same problem.

With the new one, it didn't happen right away, but developed this problem later.

I feel your pain, specially with the BD loading time...

I got the same email as well and decided to check out the shipping cost to Canada....$64 wow!!! I guess I'm waiting for a local seller now too!!! LOL!!!

Local seller will only be AV solutions out of Ontario. I haven't seen anyone else ever offered as authorized dealers up here. But I too am waiting for it to be sold up here.

You might want to check "Only Best Rated" in Mississauga. They have actually been an authorized dealer for Oppo in Canada longer than Solutions A/V. I guess we are fortunate in the GTA with TWO authorized Oppo resellers. They are, however, located at the opposite ends of town. Solutions A/V is in Markham.

Up until now their prices have been pretty identical with some minor differences in shipping costs, of course, depending on where you live. They will alter the pricing depending on the Can./US dollar relationship and for quite awhile you could have purchased a BDP83 or BDP83SE, when they were still in stock, for virtually the same price in Canadian dollars as the U.S.
When the BDP93 becomes available, it doesn't look like that might change to any degree.

So I just received the Oppo today. So far so good and already a marked difference from my previous player. Still working and optimizing. Very pleased.

Cool, has there been any noticable issues yet? Have you tried the analog outputs of it?

Nope, haven't tried analog, just HDMI. The picture quality is a step up though with noticable differences from my previous players. Still working with the unit, may try NETFLIX as well even though I stream through my xbox.
