Finally, I have the chance t o test the system that the previous owner left over in the ht room.

One weird problem, when connected the 7.1 speakers, the front L and R sound came out from the surround back speakers. I have switch the speakers connection and run the sound test and the sound are correctly coming out from the correct place.

However, when playing the dvd (tested a few), the front sound came out from the surround back.

The SR7500 surround connected to the surround back/multiple room/speaker c RCA speaker post, setting the speaker c (meant for zone 2) to either on or off does not corrected the error.

Will try to disconnect the back surr speakers and test again this Saturday.

Anyone having this weird problem?
Check the settings for the back speakers. I know my Pioneer offers a "bi-amp" option, where they rears will play the same content as the fronts. It should be set to something like, "surround back, two speakers" (some offer an option to run a single rear, or none).

Michael, your description of the problem was a little hard to follow. First, I assume that you mean that the front sound is coming out of both the front and back surround speakers, not just the back. Also, "switch the speakers connection" isn't clear.

The Speaker C setting(which isn't zone 2, it's the so-called "bi-amp" mentioned by Chris)should be set to off. If you have the speaker menu set up with the back surrounds shown as being there for 2 channel, the back surrounds should then only get sound intended for the back surrounds, not the front channels. An exception would be if you used an all-channel stereo mode which duplicates the front channels in the side and back surrounds.

So, recheck your settings to make sure that the back surrounds are set in the speaker setup menu.
Sounds like the rear channels are set to the bi-amp mode as the others have said, check the settings

page 19 and 23 of the manual kind of explain what to do:
