Hi I just got a 53tx, and have an axiom set up (including the M22ti).

The pioneer 53tx has MCACC to do an EQ balance. I see many people are recommending adding a resistor to the tweeters on the M22ti. Is this still worth doing if the receiver can knock a couple dB off in the range of the tweeters? Thanks!!

I wouldn't do either (and from what I understand, MCACC is totally automatic). Of coures, I really like the M22s as is. I think the resistor people are mostly talking about hte M80s, but I could be mistaken.

I don't think that many people are recommending such a resistor. Unless an extremely live listening room would make a permanent reduction in tweeter level tolerable, it's a bad move. If you need frequency correction on some poorly recorded items your 53TX may be able to accomplish that. Besides the automatic equalization which is done, you can manually adjust frequencies in certain areas. On the 53TX the bands near 4,000 or 11,000hz(more likely 4,000) would be candidates for adjustments when "hot" recordings are played.

Thanks. I was just curious, I don't really like the idea of buying speakers and modding them right away. I haven't heard them yet, but from all indications they should be the speaker for me. (I am all about highly detailed sound, and will be using an SVS PC+ sub). All the resistor does is cut the output by a few dB right? for those lively rooms from what it sounds. mine isn't too lively, thick carpet pad on medium berber carpet.

Yes, that's all that the resistor does, and in your room it wouldn't likely be good. Again, if you want, on particular recordings applying some manual frequency equalization on your 53TX while they're playing can partially help with bad sound.

ptaaty,

I second others' opinions here.

The first thing I would do is to run the MCACC, and then carefully compare the sound with the EQ mode set to ALL CH ADJUST, FRONT ALIGN, and EQ OFF (you can instantaneously change among these modes by pressing the EQ key on the remote). See which mode you like best (although the differences can be quite subtle if your room is well-tamed) and go from there...
