I'm going to order the M80s and matching center channel.

I've generally skimped on cables and just used standard 14 gauge rat shack cables, but I always feel like I might be missing out using cheap copper cables. Always in the back of my mind.....

I would like some advice as to the best bang for the buck when it comes to good cables. I would budget maybe 300-400 for 3 cables. I would need 1 at 5' 1 at 7' and 1 and 10'.

I'm also running an emotiva xpa 5 amp. Just wondering what you owners of the M80s use for a good speaker wire?

I know some people insist that there is no difference between any cable and then I read about how one cable over another makes a massive difference. I don't know what to believe but I don't mind spending a bit for peace of mind.

I was reading about anti cables from speltz and they seem to get rave reviews and are about 10.00 a foot.

If someone has time and they can recommend something used even from Canuckaudiomart. I would really appreciate it. I know nothing about cables and would appreciate some feedback. Best bang for the buck cables for best bang for the buck speakers right.

Also, what is the advantage of bi-wiring instead of just using a jumper? It's still getting the exact same power if it's biwired or using a jumper.

If you are bi wiring from the same power source it does nothing.

Yes my power source is the xpa 5 which is powering 5 speakers. So jumpers are fine I guess. I do see speaker wires that are positive and negative on one side and then on the other side they have two positive and negative connections for biwireing. I guess these are completely pointless as they share the same power source? I still wonder why all the hype with people spending thousands on cables. Are they mental? LOL.

Bart, no "skimping" was involved in the pieces of connecting wire you bought in the past and the new $300-$400 budget you mention shouldn't be considered "peace of mind", but instead being willing to be played for a sucker. Speaker wires simply provide a low resistance pathway for the electromagnetic wave which carries the power down the outside of the wire into the speaker. Regular electrical wire does this very simple job as well as it can be done. Contrary claims abound, but collapse when put to the test(i.e., controlled blind listening tests).

A source for no-nonsense information on speaker wiring by a veteran audio professional can be studied here .

Get electrical wire from a local source such as Home Depot or Lowes or a reasonably priced online source such as MonoPrice.

It's already been said but just adding another voice. Do not buy expensive audio cables. It's simple science that John's link can explain better than I. About the only mistake people make is using too thin cables on a long distance. Your 14g wires are more than sufficient. Spend the money on a bunch of new CDs or movies to enjoy.

You need these Monster cables, see how the center core is a tighter weave than the outside, this allows the electrons to travel faster so the faster high frequencies really shine through.

I like Axiom's audio cables. It's a little pricy at $1.00 a foot, but so far, I haven't seen better. Before I make any long runs, I'd probably order foot lengths from other companies if the price is much cheaper, just to see if I'd like them first. I haven't seen anything I like from the local hardware stores.

I ended up buying some Canare 4S11 from blue jeans audio with interconnects. Pretty cheap and I really didn't wan't to do my own interconnects. Also did bi-bannanas on one end as it only added 6.00 to the cost of each cable. It was about 200.00 for about 50 feet total. Could have saved a bit doing my own interconnects, but I'm a lazy bastard. LOL.

Yeah, I did the same thing. Probably totally unnecessary, but it looks cool.

these are the cables that i use for my M60's and vp-180.

prior to this i was using some 300$ cables.... i think i like these better...

for my Qs8's i use 12 gauge inwall rated cabling.

All of my RCA and video cables are from this company also.

Pretty good prices.
