Well, I received my FMS-180 stand today. The stand was just a tad taller then expected, even after ordering a custom height. I needed to leave the rubber feet off to allow a little room to pull my tv out further from the wall during 3-d movies. After talking with axiom, i was under the impression that you simply add 1" to the custom height you enter to account for the rubber feet. Either they accidentally sent me the standard stand or the custom height is for the legs only, not the base, and you need to add about an inch to the base and an inch for the feet. Assembled, my stand is 16" without the rubber feet, which was the height I told them I needed it WITH the rubber feet on.

In any event, I'm. It terribly worried about it, just thought that ordering a custom height was confusing.

My vp180 sounds much better being up higher. I've never had a center channel this high before and it really makes a much larger difference than I realized. Dialogue is clearer for sure!

Looks good and it looks to be a little lower than I have my VP160. I believe the ideal would be to have the center right at ear height.

Can't you just raise the TV up a bit, I assume it is attached to some bracket which should have many mounting holes, or just raise the bracket up a bit on the wall?

Yeah, I placed my TV so that my eyes are at about the lower 1/3rd of the screen or so. My old TV was smaller and sat (even lower) so I didn't want to place it so high that I had to look up to watch it. I have a little room for adjustment on the TV mount but didn't have anyone around to help me... I may raise the TV a bit and add the rubber feet onto my stand.

For my 10ft wide screen the front row people are at about the bottom of the screen and second row at 1/3, works nice.

I raised my tv up a few inches by adjusting the mounting bracket on the back of the TV. I was able to put the rubber feet on the vp180 stand and now I could even raise it a couple of inches higher....

New stand: (I have raised the TV a few inches and also put the rubber feet on the VP180 stand since the first photo in this thread.) I added some spacers on the feet to raise the vp180 a even a bit more and angled it slightly up:




Also, I spent some time in the attic today and did a couple of wall fishes to run my sub cable from behind the TV to the back corner of my room.





My vp150 was on that same low shelf for the last 4+ years that I have had my axioms. Going from having the vp150 as low as it was to where the vp180 is now is a world of difference. I have no desire to place it any higher as it sounds amazing. Hell, it sounded good even on the lower stand.

Now I need a sub to fill that hole on my front wall...

or another stand with amps on each shelf.....

Yes you need more Amps, a minimum of 2.... or 3 monoblocks, and a stereo amp.

The vp180 stuck out beyond those sides by an inch or more on the old stand. I never really had any serious problems with the old placement location, just was a bit low.

In any event, I'm happy with the axiom FMS 180. It is built really well and it's nce being able to screw the vp180 onto the stand. It is very stable, and does the job.

What height did you order?

Yeah, I know I know, I've been lazy about new pics, need to do that.... I agree with you, the website is a little confusing as to if it includes the rubber ft or not. I went with 28", as this would raise it up to a height close to the height of my M80's. The M80's are about 40" with rubber ft, so with the VP180 being 9.25" in height (according to the specs) that should put it around 37-38" total with the stand...I think the bottom of my screen is around 41-42".

One problem is that I will have to spread out my 350's more up front, as they won't fit below the 180 now, that is what is holding it up now.

David, how long did it take for your stand to arrive, or a notice to arrive? I ordered mine last Thursday, and got the automated "thank you" message. But have not heard anything since regarding it shipping. I suppose custom takes a little longer, but I'm sure they just cut the tubes off larger stock sizes.

I ordered the stand on 12/28 and it shipped on 1/6.

Seemed like a long wait...

I wonder if they get them from another supplier, seems it would not take that long, not sure.

I've tried to call a few times, but keep getting "I'm sorry, I've looked everywhere for an audio expert..." I will just wait for the magical email.

I just left a message, and replied to my orginal order email, it has JC and Brent's name on the email.

I think received a call back from JC within a day after leaving a message. I may have called towards the end of the day...
