Hello ladies and gentiles.

Ive found a ridiculous sale on the Energy Veritas center channel. Regularly $1000 CAD for $300. Has anybody had experience with it and how it compares with the Axiom line of centers ? I went to FS today to demo it but they had the setting so faint compaired to the towers that it was barely audible.
I was thinking of buying one just to flip and make a profit. Im kicking myself for not buying the Klipsch RF-82 speaks that FS had on their CyberSale. Buy one for $500 get the second one free :0

I listened to my system and VP-150 again and still love it. Just wondering how it would compare to the VP-160 i was looking at auditioning soon.

Joel, the 5.2 is a fairly conventional MTM design and doesn't have the benefit of the VP160's W T/M W configuration. Also, since its drivers are different from those in your M60s, it wouldn't match as well as the VP160 which has the identical M60 drivers.

Yeah John you are right. I was hoping in the off chance that it would sound good with the '60s and then if that was the casei would keep it. Now i just need to decide if i should buy it and flip it for a profit.

Buy it...try it...like it...keep it...don't like it...sell it...make profit. Hulk say try.

Or you could buy 3 (they are LCR's) and have a sweet set of M60's for a 2 channel set up elsewhere in the house smile

...ahhh, but then you'd need a sub. This is starting to add up to an expensive endeavor. I'd love to hear what you thought of that center though.

Why is it 300? Seems fishy.

I'm with Adrian. For that price I'd give an audition. Although keeping all speakers identical for that "timbre" match is recommended, why necessarily would a good quality center (in this case) be so bad? I run an Aperion center with my M22's and works rather nicely.

There is nothing fishy about it. Future Shop is one of Canadas largest A/V retailers. It's a legit company first and foremost. Why are they selling these products so cheap? Since API was purchased there has been a lot of discounted pricing and/or massive sales on Mirage and Energy products. It's been going on for a few years now. For that reason the resale value has bottomed out.

Remember, Future Shop is owned by Best Buy, so with all their issues in the US relating to a slow down in business(remember Circuit City?)the upcoming closing of stores and a CEO who seems to be in trouble personally, who knows what the future holds?

Vanns and other retailers in the United States are moving product on Mirage and Energy at even sicker prices. This has been the trend since API was bought out. I think this is largely due with the new direction the company is taking with these brands.

Vanns is where they have them for sale.
