Edit: Thought you were referring to a subwoofer.

hey i should have explained the cs10 is the center speaker thanks

For movies, most likely. The center is the most important speaker to match. It plays as large a role in movies at the main speakers and the sound field will move between the mains and center. Differences in sound will be quite obvious.

You could always use a phantom center for movies to start with.

ya thats what i thought thanks

Yes, you will probably notice the difference between it and the M80's. Phantom Centre is a good idea.

I wouldn't worry about the tonal difference right now, if all you wanted was to buy new mains and not upgrade the entire package then finding a match would be more critical. Because you are looking to upgrade the entire system I would buy the M80s then add the center next, then surrounds and or sub.

Agreed.
Sometimes budget is more important than perfection. You know you will match things up later and buying new mains will definitely give you the biggest bang for your buck right now.

Try the CS10 with the M80s for a while and if you find it really distracting then you can always run with no center at all (phantom center) until your next budgeted upgrade comes along. If you sit in the middle, you still get a great center effect. Those who are too far off to the side will be a bit off but how many friends houses to you go to and watch a movie where they don't have a center channel? Did it really bother you that much? Probably not.

Then you have the fun of future upgrades to reach the perfect system.

Non-rambling version...... If it makes you happy, Do it!

cool, let us know how they do with the XPA 5. I've read that is a pretty ballsy amp.

I have a 7.1 kit using XPA-5 and UPA-2. I have a pair of QS8 on the UPA, and drive the M80,VP180,2xQS8 on the XPA-5. It's wonderful and can sing very loud. My UPA-2 was not really necessary, I could have use my PIO's internal amp for surrounds.

I think my M80 sounded better when I hooked them to the Behringer EP2500 power amp. Even tried my M22 on it at that time! smile

I would have to hook back the Behringer to test it. From what I recall there was a huge difference. But it's a few years back, I would need to test it again.
