Hi All!

I had time this summer to do renovation. One of my projects was, of course, finishing my home theater. The room was the house previous owner's workshop so it was on the sub-floor, all white with a gazillion little holes and a few bigger holes. Light switch was outside the room and there was just one.

Before: Plywood floors, cables showing, a bit dirty...




I passed all the cables through walls and ceilings. All speaker terminals are nice plates that look professional. I also passed 2 HDMI cables and installed a new power outlet for the projector.







Holes in the walls! That was a very ugly phase. Especially since I had never done anything like this before, my confidence that I would patch up and hide those holes nicely was a bit shaky. I installed two new lights (separate dimmer control). A set up front and one mini rail where the disk readers are (so you can change them in the dark!)




In case I ever move to LFR1100 speakers (or use the DSP), I passed two more speaker cables for main left and main right. They are already patched up in the main panel.

PAINTING! I used "drama black", a mix of 2/3 black and 1/3 red. It is essentially black, but not a sinister as a black-painted room. It actually looks pretty nice on its own. Note that all terminal plates were spray-painted black (I don't have pictures of the final result as the colors are messing up my camera and the photos turn out bad).







Atfer that, it was time for flooring! I used "oak gray" vinyl tiles (I was going to use digital tiles, but apparently vinyl sounds better! ) It matches the paint quite well.



Et voila !



The result meets my expectations and even a little more. It was a lot of work, but definitely improved the quality of viewing by removing a lot of distractions. Before, the projector illuminated the room like the 4th of July (even in Montreal!). Now almost no reflections and the reflections actually look good!

Looks good! Ya know the room acoustic gurus like diffusion a lot, and you have pretty much wall to wall diffusion with your MASSIVE collection of media. That is like artwork in itself, and it helps with the audio.

I love the chairs too. The bright white in the dark room is cool.

Actually, I wired my house and that took me about two weeks (a few hours here and there) and I'm enjoying the rewards!

I'd say it's about halfway between the center of the circle and the edge, in the section marked 31.

Peter, do you have a Pantone number for that?

PANTONE 356 PC looks about right.

It aint easy being green.

Green is envy, I think jealous is a warmer tone.
