I have a budget of around $1200.00 US for an axiom system that would be in a fairly large living room (sorry no dimensions ATM) with a high ceiling. I listen to about 50%/50% music/HT. I LOVE 5-channel stereo and would be using this feature with all music. I’d like to set up the system for optimal 5 channel performance at my price point.

I'm planning on buying a SVS sub (25-31PCi) tuned for 22 Hz. The amp is a Denon AVR1603 (85 watts x 5 @ 8ohms).

I've pretty much decided to go for the VP150 center and the Qs8's but I was wondering if I should go with the M3ti’s with 6.5 drivers for some lower bass extension instead of the M22ti’s dual 5.25’s. I’d like to stay away from the towers for cost reasons.

If you've got a kick butt sub (which it sounds like you do) then by ALL means, go with the M22ti's.

Go with the M22s. You won't regret it, and they blend so well with subs.

I've got an SVS PB1-ISD (their "smallest" box sub) and a pair of M22s. They're a perfect match. You won't regret it.

Dagon, if you actually mean 5 channel stereo and not processing such as DPLII, then to optimize that mode you have to have all 5 speakers identical. That would mean 5 M22s to fit your budget. If you're willing to compromise a bit the VP150 and QS8s would be fine.

As always, check out the Owner location section of the board and find someone in your area to give them a test run.
