Hi all,
I'm trying to help my neighbor put together a home theater system. He's still in the process of deciding front mains (VP150 is a definite). He's leaning heavily towards the M22's over the M60's due to price and placement flexability. The rears are the biggest question mark. His room is 25' long X 19' wide with a sloping ceiling from 10' up to 17'(tv's on the 19' wall). There is no back wall because the room is open to the kitchen in back. The only place for surrounds is approximately midway in the room, which will be about 2' in front of the listening position and 3' above ear level. Will the QS8's be the best in this setup, or is he better off getting either the M3's or another pair of M22's insead?

Thanks in advance,
Kevin

The QS8s are undoubtedly the best solution for this room's placement restrictions. You definitely do not want a direct radiator in front on the listening position, but the quad-polar design of the QS8s will be able to create a convincing surround field even there.

Incidentally, the best spot for surround speakers is at or slightly behind the listening position along the side walls.

I entirely agree with Peter regarding the QS8. In addition, I'd recommend the M60 over M22 in this case, given the large room volume. The price difference will be a bit smaller if he includes the speaker stands.
