What is your budget? Is this for stereo use only, or full 5.1/7.1 surround?

Yep...that was me.
There are more people here that can give you ideas on receivers. Most receivers are of similar quality these days (within similar price ranges). Get the one that has the features you want.
Onkyo, Yamaha, HK, Denon, Pioneer...they're all good.
The Yamaha RX-V1400 with YPAO, perhaps?
Ditto what John and Sushi said. As for the upcoming "bright" comments, the 1400 comes with a dimmer option and has a range of -4 to 0.
