Hello, I've enjoyed your products for years, thank you very much. I've previously had a 7.2 system consisting of m80's, vp150, qs8's. I'm now building a 7.4.4 system. Dolby Atmos standard is direct firing speakers - I believe ALL speakers need to be direct firing. So, I was considering using my exsisting qs8's for the ceiling speakers and aligning the angled tweeter to corispond to the listening position. With m80's as my mains, in a 5700cuft room, what kind of On Wall speakers do you recommend? The room has been build to previously hold the qs8's in the surround locations. I don't think adding a bookshelf or tower that's right against a wall is a good idea, and I can't bring the surround channels more into the room, so I think they have to be On Walls. The distance of the LR surrounds to the listening position is 13ft and 9.5ft for the rear surrounds. I'm trying to ADD to what I currently have, not REPLACE AND ADD all of my speakers.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You can use on-walls that are M80, M60, M5, M3 or M2. The M80s and M5s are harder to drive unless you have a 4 Ohm, higher powered-rated receiver or amp. The M3 or M2 are versatile choices.

Here's the link to all the Axiom on-walls.

I would suggest the m3OW in your area. I have the m5s and while I enjoy them there isn’t a lot in movies that’s going to them. Surrounds are set to small and most of the lower frequencies are going to be diverted to the subs. I think I enjoy them more when I’m listening to music in surround modes. For movies I think I would have been fine with the m3 or M2 and it would have been a smaller footprint on the walls.

Canes, have you tried setting the M5 to 40Hz or full range? Are you powering them with the Denon? Maybe the Denon is running out of juice.

I traded in my 4 Qs8s a few years back and have m22 on walls for surrounds and went with 4 m3 "in-ceiling" with adjustable tweeters, love them.

Yes, they are back on the Denon. It’s running rear ceiling and the m5ow right now. They definitely lost a little umph when I took them off the 1500. I’m picking up a 1000.8 to run them plus the 6 overhead speakers soon. That’ll give them some boost. Right now they are crossed over at 80. Just set up some temporary mounts for my 4 m3 in ceiling speakers so they’ll be on the Denon too probably this weekend.

When you get the 1000, also try running the M5s full range.

I did something similar but went with M3 on-walls verse M22. I also have the M3 C speakers. Atmos is pretty amazing with these speakers. Not sure how well the QS8's would work, but I think direct speakers are the way to go. It wouldn't hurt anything to try the Qs though.
