Hello all,

I am getting tons of great info for building my home theatre here, it is wonderful to know (sort of) what you're getting into.

Now I am looking for a subwoofer for my system. My friend has a SVS that I have listened to, and thought I was set on getting, but now that I know HSU Research is only about 30-40 minutes away from me, I want to go have a listen. Just for reminder, my theatre room is 19x14x9, and I am rigging up a 7.1 system. From what I saw on HSU's website, the STF-2 looks to be more than enough for my space... What do you guys think? I really don't want to spend too much on subs but I will if I need to. Do I "need" to go up to the VTFs? I am not a audiophile so I don't know if the adjustability of the VTFs will do me much good. About all I ask for is a 12" sub, should I go up to the STF-3? Or should I just stick with SVS?

STF-2 should be great. If you have extra to spend, go ahead and do the STF-3. I'm 18x12x8 VTF-2 and it's plenty. You're only a little bigger. I'm only VTF cause there was no STF when I got mine. I don't know of anyone that actually uses the V part of the VTF, so get the STF.

And IMHO get Hsu, not SVS. I compared both and preferred the VTF. There's an old post on it somewhere on here.

If you've got a dedicated HT room, get the best sub you can. I agree on the STF-3.

I too am a VTF owner only because the STF series wasn't available when I bought mine.
