hope this link works. Here is a diagram of the space I am putting my new HT in. I am still hesitant about which Axiom speakers to get. It seems every time I come in here and read posts, I question my plan. would love some input on whether or not M50's would be a good choice for this room; or whether I should go with the M22ti's. Have read that they would perhaps be more forgiving in a space like mine.

Also, am I going to run into trouble with the rear QS4's positioned how I am showing here?

let me know what you all think. I am very anxious to get the speakers ordered so I can experience what I've been reading on here.

When I go to that URL, I get a "forbidden" message from Yahoo.

Ron, we'd LOVE to help you, but I can't get to that url either. Photobucket is a free service many of us use to host pictures or other graphic objects. Once you have something loaded there, you can include it in a post here. Check the FAQ for instructions.

yes, i suppose legged is better than egged. thanks for the heads up; i'm known for typo's

I'd be inclined to keep the surrounds on the same plane (ie: both on the back wall or one on the side wall, one on a stand mirrored on the other side of the couch... yes, they're pretty forgiving in their positioning but that's begging for a LOT of forgiveness.

yes, i wondered whether or not that would be a problem. i'm afraid the wife won't like the one on a stand out in the middle of the room; i may end up having to mount them both on the back wall

I think your speaker choices are just fine (M60s, VP100, QS4s). Your QS positioning, though not bad, is less than ideal. But then, so is mine. They are reputed to be very forgiving when it comes to positioning. Though I have no idea if it would be feasible or desirable in your situation, and alternative to wall mounting the QSs, would be ceiling mounting them. Or, if you have a little space between windows on the back wall, wall mounting them.

You might want to experiment with placement of your STF-2 (I have one ,too). There are several different opinions as to the best place for a sub. The most common spot recommended is in a corner. Some recommend placing the sub close to the listening position (in your case at either end of the couch). If you placed it between the couch and the patio doors wall (the STF-2 is only 14" wide), that would put in both in a corner, and near the listening area. However, your room will dictate where you place it. Just experiment a little.

Good luck, and keep us posted on your progress.

i was just checking out another post where someone had photos of ceiling mounted QS4's. I had not thought of that, but it looks pretty ideal for my situation. Do you guys think having them ceiling mounted and tilted down would be superior to having them wall mounted and almost directly behind my head?

i was wondering about that sub placement too. I could actually fit it in next to the couch

In reply to:

My first thought is "yes ceiling mounting them slightly behind, or to the side, of your listening area and aiming them down would be superior." However, I have no direct experience with either positioning, so for heavens sake DON'T listen to me.

You might try sending a PM to the fellow who posted the pictures, and ask his advice.

Ohh, so there's space above the windows behind to ceiling mount the QSs without blocking the windows?

There's your answer!
