My Atlantic Technology System 250.1 has served me well the last five years. My only complaint has been with what I would call mid-range bass. I would like to replace the whole system buy I may start with just the fronts and center speaker for now.

My room is fairly small, at about 12 feet wide and fifteen feed long but it opens into the rest of the house. Will the M-60 fronts and VP 150 center over power the room? For now I need to use my Harman Kardon AVR 65 which I think will be okay with the 8 ohm 60's but I don't know about the 6 ohm center.

If anyone here has ever heard the AT 250.1 and can compare it to any of Axiom's speakers, it would be a big help.

i have never heard the AT 250, so i cant really do a comparison.

as far as the speakers you are looking to get, the VP150 and M60's would be a lot of sound for that space. i aint gonna say its too much sound, but you will definitely have sound to spare. and if the room does open to the rest of the house as you have mentioned, then it might be just right. another option would be the M22's and the VP100 center. i am just taking for granted that you have, or are gonna get, a sub? its a must have for HT in my opinion. you will definitely need one with the M22's.

i would think the HK would have no problems pushing the 6ohm load. that figure is a little deceiving. the axiom speakers are very efficient, so the 6ohm load will not really be a problem at all for the HK.

good luck in your choices.

My system came with a 12" 150 watt subwoofer that seems to do a pretty good job. I don't hurt for the real low end just the middle.

I'll take a look at the other fronts (M22?) that you mentioned.

Edit: I just downloaded a brochure on my AT 250.1. The front left, front right and center speakers all feature two 4" woofers and a single 1" tweeter. I don't want woofers any smaller than 5.25" for the center channel do I? I can see where the M60's might be a little much, but I don't want to have to upgrade yet again. Also, I will hopefully buy a new house soon and I will hopefully have a little larger room then.

Greg, the M22s would be sufficient, but if you can position the M60s far enough apart, they will do well and give you flexibility to take you to a bigger room. Something to consider. Basketballl coaches like to say "you can't teach height" and the M22s may not do as well in a large room. I'm in a 16x22x10 room and the VP 100 is terrific.

Basketball coaches also like to say "You can't teach Shaq to shoot free throws" -- but that's another thread entirely...
