Well with great info from Alan, help from the techs online and the forum gang, I am going to purchase two 60's for the front, a vp150, and 4 qs8's although they will come 2 at time as I save up for the 2nd pair. I have an old BIC Got great help from all on placement and wiring. Now i have to figure out that receiver....

congrats on your choices. i know once you get them in the house, you are gonna dig 'em the most.

as far as receiver, you know opinions around here are as different as night and day sometimes. just look for one with the features you desire, and try and get one with a wattage range between 75-100.. you will want to crank on those 60's every once and a while.

oh, and get a sub.. very important when talking about HT.

I have an old SWA-100 subwoofer power amp and a V12 sub speaker. Not sure if it will be any good or not. It is rated as 100rms per channel at 4 or 8 ohms over rated power bandwidth/ 200 watts peak 4/8 ohms Freq Response 20 Hz to 70 Hz (+/-3db) Think it'll be any good?

"good" is a relative term. to a man trapped on a deserted island for 12 months, a saltine cracker is "good"..

i think it comes down to if you are happy with it. most subs have a powered amp of at least 100-200 watts, with the high end SVS and HSU subs having up to 400-500 watts. the frequency response seems excellent at 20Hz, so i dont think you will have a prob there. once you choose on a receiver, set everything up, and play with your sub placement. it can be finicky. get it to where it sounds the best, then if you still dont like it or want more, then start looking into replacing it.
