Hello.
I have a complete Axiom system on order and expect delivery Sept.1. With this comes a pair of Qs8's. I am preparing a HT room in my basement and need to know what kind of bracing I need for my future side surrounds. I'm close to hanging drywall and all advice is appreciated.

Thanks

As long as you've got a stud where you want to place the things, you're fine. I've got my QS4s (same mount) mounted on a stud (on the center line of the T) with drywall anchors on the arms of the T.

Since my walls are open now wouldn't some extra bracing be worth it? Are there any good pics available of the supplied Qs8 mounts?

Got to this page and click on the word "bracket" in the 4th paragraph on the right side of the page. No dimensions, but a good photo.

How far down from the ceiling are your Qs8's? I ordered the FMBracket Is this better than the T? (Takes less holes I guess) Thanks for a reply

Seems like the t-bracket and the speaker wire terminals interfere with each other. If I mount a wall box for my speaker connections will the bracket get in the way? Does my wire box need to be recessed?

It's difficult to use banana plugs or any other connector with the QS8s, if your using the supplied bracket. Everybody recommends that you just use bare wire at the end of your speaker cables. You unscrew the posts on the speaker a little which reveals a hole. Insert the bare wire into the hole and tighten the posts. That means the speaker wire is coming in from an angle at the base of the posts, and the bracket doesn't interfere in any way. No problemo.

I can't answer your question about the wall box. Mine, at the moment aren't mounted on the wall, so I don't know how much clearance there would be if they were. Just from sticking the bracket on mine, and guesstimating, there doesn't appear to be much clearance. If you didn't put a cover on the box, I think there would be no problem. Others with experience with mounting them on the walls should be able to give you better information.

Still interested in Qs8 owners expercience as I am close to mounting my wire boxes and would like some first hand input.
IE: Do my boxes need to be recessed?

I broke a post trying to use a banana plug on one qs8 but still had enough left to secure it using bare wire. On the second speaker, I used one banana plug and one bare wire. (This was with the FMB)

Atom,

If you use the supplied T-bracket to mount your QS8s, you must use bare cable connections to the binding posts, which of course are as good an electrical connection as any other. But there is no room for spades, banana plugs, etc. You might wait until you get your QS8s to experiment with height. They are not critical--anywhere from 2 ft to 5 ft above your ear level to each side, and a little behind the listening area.

Every room is different. It's sometimes useful to enlist a couple of assistants (or stepladders) to temporarily hold the QS8s in different spots as you listen to them. My own QS8s are at different heights and one is farther forward than the other. In my room, it doesn't seem to make any difference when I move them.

And, yes, your wire boxes would need to be recessed if you use the supplied T-bracket.
