hey guys, go easy, it's my first post. I have an old 1924 spanish home. The room is 9x22, very narrow. Due to the lay out, the speakers have to fire the 9ft. direction. is the room too small for 7.1? will there be wave conjestion. My samsung 50" DLP-HD TV is "corner" placed to due the room (and my girl) also there is a large fireplace which compounds placement issues. I wanted m-80s but went with 22s w/stands cause of size. 2- QS-8 rears (size again) the 150 c.c. with axiom's bracket angled down at about 6ft. above fireplace. And a supernova 12" 580 watt powered sub.right now I have the 22.s about 8ft. apart, aimed at the couch. Also what's the best height , and seperation on the QS-8s?? the rear wall is 18ft with the couch dead center. Any thoughts? *** I wanted the m-80s but felt they would overwhelm the room, plus she says NO! I wear the pants --- under my apron! Thanks Jon

I'm not sure about the HT part but I will say as a M80 owner you probably made the right choice.If you can only be about 8 to 9 feet away from your speakers the 80's would have been to much.I'm sure the boys that know ALOT more about the HT part will give ya some really good advice.
Jon, I didn't follow how the TV was in the corner if you're sitting in the middle of the back wall, but I'd think that the QS8 placement should be about 6' up on the back wall and separated to within a foot or two of the side walls. If you're sitting right up against the back wall it isn't likely that you'd get much more "back surround" effect by going to 7.1.
let me try to explain this: the couch is center on a rear 18ft. wall faces directly at the fireplace. The 22's are on stands on the right and left side of the firepalce, aboy 8" from the brick. Center channel above firepalce centerd and aimed at couch. QS-8s left/right side of rear couch wall, and 50" TV in corner of the fireplace wall, oppisite cwall of couch - about 4 ft away offset in the corner. I thnk I am just going to put a for sale sign in the yard!!
