I recieved Hemispherees in the Mail today from Ebay.

After litsening to the album in it's entirety I was reminded what makes Rush Rush.

In all fairness to 2112

I can only say the lyrics of Hemispheres matched by the intracacy of La Villa Strangiato... is well to be PUNNY reason and desire (get it?)

I give it the slight nod above 2112 as being the best RUSH album.

Not to mention the Axioms reproduced the music the best I ever heard.

Can't beat that Axioms, Rush...what could be better? Wagner?

If any Axiom owners out there do not know Rush or haven't heard it on your Axioms...get any of their older stuff....You may never hear a speaker sound so alive and capable.

I agree!! Rush is awesome on the axioms. I have also been enjoying ELO. Out of the blue is UNBELIEVABLE.
Enjoy!

ELO...hmm we do have a greatest hits cd.

Yeah, you know

some music really has a lot of SOUNDS ...not to sound stupid..

but some tracks just have so many things going on..it's nice to hear them as the Axioms can present them..

and i mean the gammit from Classical to thrash...from floyd to John Michael Montgomery...from Slayer to Mendohlsonn

it is all amazing.

Like I said beofr I haven't found any music that these speakers do not excell at.

its amazing.

my wife disagrees...but I now realize she is DEF

I thought that the wife would say "I can't tell the difference" but she actually thinks the Axioms are excellent. She noticed an improvement immediately. She always wants to play her cd's (Jackson 5, Disco, Top 40, etc.)I want my speakers back!! Well at least she likes the new speakers otherwise all I would have heard the next 3 months is "I can' t believe you spent all that money on these stupid speakers" LOL

I would agree that both are great albums... picking the best is kind of hard. BTW, I saw Chronicles at half.com for 4.95! couldn't believe that. I'm sorry I bought it when it came out... another cool album is Carress of Steel. The Necromancer is a fun one that shows off some different flavors of my M60s. Do i have too much time on my hands?

Anyone get the chronnicles DVD version? Any good, worth it?

Styxx was very impressive on the M20s

it is very clean music with a lot of keyboard, bass, crystal clear vocals...really nice
Have you tried the Rush in Rio DVD?
Talk about goosebumps....

The show is like being there.

i have been wanting to get that RUSH in Rio but someone on this forum had told me that it was not mixed very well. i believe the person said that it had too much crowd noise, and not enough of the instruments? i dont know, but i wanna hear the instruments.

but, being a RUSH fan, i am sure it will be in my collection very soon.. i will put it on my christmas list!!

The crowd noise is there. But it's like being at the show

Is anything say around grace under pressure and newer good?

I have heard little but one or two radio songs...like "Ghost of a chance", and another "tip of the iceburg" other than that any thing newer i have never heard...is it any good?

I have considered the brand new album with the psychadelic look.

But the pas five or so albums i really don't know dookie about.

any one heard a lot of the new stuff?

The Rush in Rio disc is outstanding. The crowd noise is almost overwhelming at the beginning, but it is like you're right there. The second disc has a terrific documentary of the story behind their Brazillian dates and the problems they were facing setting up for the show and the DVD shoot. Essentially, they were just flying by the seats of their pants and the energy is incredible. Here's a terrific review of the companion album, and it describes the DVD perfectly. I really can't recommend the disc enough. I saw Rush for the umpteenth time here in Nashville this past May, and (as always) they were astonishing. I'd really forgotten how much I like them. Growing up, I was the biggest Rush freak around, but they started to lose me around Power Windows. So you grow up and get older and your listening habits change, but Rush is just one of those bands I'll always enjoy, even if their recent catalog isn't quite up to par. Watch the DVD (or see them live!) and any question of whether they've still "got it" goes flying out the window.

The most recent album is just a bunch of covers. I don't mean to dismiss it by any means (watching them play "The Seeker", "Heart Of Soul" and "Summertime Blues" Rush-ified was definitely a trip), but don't expect to find any original material on the CD.

I think the Grace Under Pressure album rocked it's been re-mastered and sounds phenomenal. This album is a personal favorite.

So it's like you're there, huh? Does that mean every time you play the disk, hired extras barge through your front door, stand reeeeally close to you, get stoned/drunk, constantly bump into you and apologize, and then they all get in line for your bathroom when you want to go?

Sounds like a great time to me...
O.k. It's not quite that real but it's pretty close

The best part is when the girls want to sit on your shoulders with their cloths painted on and their breasts planted in my face I'm such a perv....

Excellent points! How about a few more?

Top 10 Reasons Why the Rush in Rio Disc is Better Than Actually Being There:

10. The DVD costs about $50 less than a concert ticket, and you can watch it as often as you like.

9. You don't have to pay for parking, and you don't have to fight the traffic going to and from the show.

8. You can wear whatever t-shirt you like and still look cool.

7. There's no drunk standing next to you screaming "TEMPLES OF SYRINX!!!!" in between every freakin' song.

6. You've got the best seat in the house, and you can hit "pause" during bathroom breaks.

5. You can skip the lousy songs.

4. No (unsolicited) frisks or searches.

3. No one's standing right in your way.

2. The sound is much better.

1. The beers aren't warm, and they don't cost $8 a cup!

great list, i liked #7..

i had this exact experience when i went to see RUSH in june. the drunk guy behind me strated screaming for 'limelight' after about the 3rd or 4th song. thru the intermission, into the 2nd set, "LIMELIGHT, LIMELIGHT"....

unfortunately for me, and the rest of the people in my section, RUSH decided to play 'limelight' as the LAST song of their encore set.. great song, made even better cause it finally shut that guy up!!!

Eerie, isn't it? Seems like I've somehow managed to be next to that guy at every concert I've ever attended.
Posted By: joshxfoo Re: speaking of too much time on my hands - 08/17/04 08:10 PM
I've stood next to him a few times, too. But when I saw Weezer (with Tenacious D and Jimmy Eat World) a few years back, I got stuck next to that guy's drunker, fatter, stupider cousin.

He seriously spent at least half an hour singing the wrong song and asking me (at 155 lbs) to lift his 250 lb drunk ass up so he could crowd surf. I eventually went and stood elsewhere.

Honestly, what with the obnoxiously drunk crowds, the fact that I have to stand up the whole time, and the totally unneccessarily loud volumes, I find myself increasingly unable to enjoy most rock concerts. Of course, I still enjoy a good outdoor concert festival, and some bands seem to attract better crowds, keep the music at a more reasonable level, and play venues with actual seating room. And the tickets for most such concerts, in my experience, tend to be around $10, which is a far cry from the $40+ I've paid for a lot of unbearable shows.

Yeah, but at those better behaved events, you're not exposed to gratuitous boob flashing...
Posted By: joshxfoo Re: speaking of too much time on my hands - 08/17/04 08:59 PM
No, but the outdoor concert festivals one-up gratuitious boob flashing with drugged-out hotties walking around wearing nothing but paint. Sometimes less.

From one article on the aftermath of this year's Bonnaroo (which I attended):

"A lot of times they're picked up naked out in a field," Kemp said. "They have a tendency to get naked when they're on mushrooms."
