we all know that for audio we can really use roughly 20 to20khtz in audible practicality

what about video? any one know?

I ask because I notice on many recievers the bandwith tends to vary ...I recently bought the Yam 2400 (waiting for it now ) it peaks at 66mghtz i believe

while some other brands get up to 100mghtz

what can this imply or does it mean squat a doodle?

All of the component cables I use are a true 75ohm with true 75ohm connectors. You can get by on less but most respected authorities all seem to agree that 75ohms is the way to go. I posted a bunch of video bandwidth stuff not that long ago. I think you can get by with as little as 35 but like I said, why get by when for not a lot of extra cost you can run true 75ohm cables!

Dave, I believe that some of the info John referred to is found here . You'll note that the highest bandwidth needed is about 37 MHz for 720p. Bandwidth is generally defined as the point where response has dropped by 3dB, and it's considered that there would be no visible deterioration at that point. In addition to a loss in the receiver, there's some in the cables, but for usual home distances it amounts to no more than one or two tenths of a dB and can be disregarded. The author suggests a margin of twice the bandwidth needed, and such a suggestion is fairly common, although it's rather conservative. My view is not to be concerned with any bandwidth of 30MHz or more and that 60 or 100MHz is unlikely to be of visible advantage to any human being.

I was concerned that at 60 or 66 whatever the yammi 2400 is that it would have some issues.

Funny...something like the CPU issue you mentioned the other day...

I guess whats strange is that we pay for the unnecessary technology- in a way.

My favorite example- CELL PHONES, man I just want to make a call.

And althoguh conveinient I really don't need a1meg camera in it, nor do I want the thing the sixe of a raisin. I thought bigger was better...damn things are so small.

any way- cool, I will put the 2400 to work tomorrow. And enjoy its bandwith and then some
