Hey all,

For Christmas, my wife is, well, "allowing," me to complete our HT by adding the center and surrounds. I've heard all this stuff about how the QS8's are a lot better QS4's. Is that true? Also, the surrounds will be mounted just behind the sofa, about 3-4 feet away from our ears on either side. Will the QS4's still kick butt, or will I be wondering if I should've got the QS8's? Not sure we can afford the 8's anyway, so it may be a moot point, but I just wanted to see what you all thought.

Thanks, JT

How big is your room? Mine's 17x18x8 or so, and the QS4s seem to be fine.

Hey, jtmccoy
Everyone that's posted on the 4's seems very happy with them and as far as I've read the 4's and 8's are pretty much the same sonically. The 8's are designed for larger rooms and the 4's for mid to small size rooms. The difference is similar between the M60 and M80 both are sonically almost identical its just that the M80's play louder. At 3 to 4 feet away the 4's would be just fine.

As far as the what if....QS8's? only you can decide if its going to be a problem for you. For me I decided I didn't want to wonder so I went with the 8's, but quite honestly sonically there was no justification for me not to go with the 4's as I only have a medium sized roo.

So if $$$$$$ is a big issue, go for the 4's and be happy that you have one of the best surrounds on the market.

Cheers, Jag
Thanks guys. Our room's about 12'x15'x8'.

Oh, do the QS4s. The 8s would be overkill. (saith the man who has not heard the 8s...)
