I reran the YPAO on my yamaha 1400 the other day. When it was done I noticed that the speaker levels were between 4.0 and 6.0 db while the subwoofer was set to -8.0 db. Does that happen to others? I find that this is always happening when I run the YPAO. It really doesn't work well as the sub isn't engaged and is often times reverting back to standby mode. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestiong on how to set the subwoofer levels so that the sub is being used without having to jack up the main volume knob. I find that I have to manually raise the sub level to around the same decibel level as the speakers for it to be awakened more often from stanby mode.

Hari, my suggestion would be to lower the level setting on the sub itself when you increase the sub output level on your 1400, so that the overall sub loudness level stays about the same but the higher output from the sub out on the 1400 keeps it "awake".

Thanks for you response John

I played around with the settings for a while and tried your balancing advice. I was only able to keep the sub "awake" when I set the sub output from the 1400 at around 8.0 db and then move the sub gain to around 40%. It worked well tonight especially while playing music which is when I had most of the problems with the "dozing off" sub. I'm just concerned that turning up the receiver output to such a high level (it maxs at +10) will harm the sub in any way.
