I am looking into the purchse of a new Receiver to warm up the sound of my M22ti's and later will upgrade to M60's. I am looking seriously at two older model's to foot the bill. One is the Marantz SR19EX the other is the Denon AVR-4800. Any recomendations from you other Axiom Owners on these two?

I'd love to help you out, but I 'm not quite sure what you are trying to accomplish. Can you provide more info?

Why an older unit? Is price the main consideration? What's your budget? What else is in your decision mix?

A little more info is going to get you WAY to much advice here!

Oak, receivers don't come in varying degrees of "warmth"(except the sort that you'd measure with your hand rather than your ears). If you're dissatisfied with the sound that you're getting the things to look at are the recordings that you're using, the speakers and your listening room. A different receiver won't help.

Well its many things. Budget is one yes. Also for my house now, I really do not have the room for a 6.1 or 7.1 system. So in the world of 5.1 there are many more options. Both the two I have mentioned above are 5.1 Receivers that have the abilities to add an amp for up to a 7.1 system if I wanted in the future. Above that, the two amps I mentioned are THX Ultra certified, and very highly rated. Either of these give me everything I need for now, and have the ability to work later if needed.

John, I am sorry but have to strongly disagree. I have tested units before, and every company has its own sound. Most say in the case of Yamaha, Denon and Marantz, in same sequence you can say Bright, Neutral, and Warm. I have a Yamaha now and find it too bright with my M22's. I was just looking for recomendations with the Neutral sound of Denon or the Warm sound of Marantz, and how owners like them with their Axiom speakers.
I know you may think I am crazy, but I have found, some people hear sound different then others. My father and I for instance hear completely different. He does not hear a difference from one piece of audio equipment to the next. However I always can. Even now he has the exact same set-up I have and his Pioneer sounded much different then my Yamaha which he used untill I moved out. He claims it sounds the same, but I kid him all the time and tell him he is crazy!

Given what you are describing, I think the Denon 2105 or 2805 would be about right for you.

Not to be mean or anything, but why would I go for a new reciever, if all I need is a 5.1 system right now? To me it would seem the AVR-4800 or SR19EX would kill a 2805 in a 5.1 comparison. What I was looking for was opinions on the first mentioned amps the SR19EX and AVR-4800.

The Panasonic digitally amplified slim design receivers are giant killers. the XR-50 (silver) can be had from Amazon.com for $267. The XR-25 can be picked up on ebay for a song. These are seriously good, audiophile quality receivers. You could google "Panasonic XR" and see what the community is saying about these receivers. There are some audiophiles who are using this receiver as a 2 channel receiver/amp for stereo only. They sound really good, and the price is a steal.

I am looking for a receiver as well. I looked up the specs on the Panasonic XR50 and noticed that in stereo two channel mode, THD is .09%. While in Home theater mode, THD is .9%. Is that an audible difference in distortion?

TNT, if you otherwise like the features and price of the XR50, that distortion rating shouldn't be a significant concern. Blind tests have indicated that when playing music(rather than pure test tones)THD has to exceed 1% before it begins to become audible. So, although some anguish over differences of hundredths of a percent, the concern is unnecessary.
