I was browsing the racks in the Crutchfield Outlet this week and they had a whole stack of Denon 3805's for $917.
I made a point of asking why they were there, and the manage said they were simply returns, with no problems.
Second question I asked was what they did with units that came back with problems that they could not fix easily in house, and he said that they went back to Denon, and got sold through their "Refurbished" outlets, but that they were NOT shipped back to Crutchfield for sale in their Outlet section.
So I'm guessing that these units sitting the outlet are there simply because they are returns for whatever reason, and are in good working order.
Just in case someone is looking for a cheap 3805.

I got my Denon 2900 from Crutchfield's Outlet Store.

They get the returns back, test them, repack them and they are pristine. Great opportunity. Plus, they also have the 30 day return privilege.
Though I did not return a 3805, I did return the 3910 to crutch. It would not read HDCDs very readily. They tried to help me out but nothing worked. When they sent the replacement, I hooked it up next to the original for comparison. Sure enough, the new one played all discs without hesitation while the other struggled to recognize enhanced cds.

I'm sure they resolve whatever ailes the machines and resell them. Mine was practically new when I returned it.
This is a retail store, right? I didn't find any outlet stuff on their website, but maybe I'm not looking hard enough.
there's a link to it on the lower left, gotta scroll down some if i remember. its is a great place to get stuff, i got my pioneer 578 there cheap, plus a really hot chick helped me out at the store!

Ken, there are really 2 opportunities. One is "Outlet" and the other is "Scratch & Dent"
