I just received a Denon 2805 from a refurbished authorized dealer. When I switch between modes the receiver is making a clicking noise. Is this normal?
By "modes" do you mean inputs?
If so, my 3805 does it as well. I'm sure I've heard it on other receivers as well and never worried about it. I just assumed it was the internal switching.
my denon 1905 did the same noise ,
Great. This makes me feel a lot better. LOVE MY M22's.
Not trying to bring you down, but my 2805 is silent while switching sources.
i guess i know what this means....
bray has the defective one!!
the clicking noise is normal, as long as it only happens once when you turn it on and once when you change modes.
After it clicks, the sound comes out of the speakers, right?
that's normal. I've played with several low and mid end denons and they've all done it.
Falcon - are you refering to a quiet "tick" noise out of the receiver itself (not out of the speakers)? Maybe like someone tapping a Bic pen on a table?
If so, you're hearing a relay doing it's job.
Bren R.
Yes. It is coming out of the receiver itself and not from the speakers. I just found it a little unusual but everything is working fine. Thanks for your help...Ray
Just want to let you knowe even my vintage 1989 Pioneer VSX 9500s has the same 'click noise' when I switch from one mode to the other (e.g. from CD to VDP, VCR1 to Tape1,AUX to Tuner).
I just think it's normal and it doesn't bother me.
Yup, mine does it too. Nothing to worry about.
Now I'm beginning to think that mine is defective.
My 2805 is completely silent when switching between sources. Hmmm.
