Hey my Axiomite guys and a few gals

Just curious for those of you that have purchased home theater seating online, any recommendations?

Of course I want good quality, at bargain pricing if possible. My wife and I have been shopping around Des Moines at various furniture stores. Most places have the normal 3-4 groupings that are hooked with wedges in the middle. We would prefer finding seperate reclining chairs w/cup holders. I am planning a 2 row system and the back row will be elevated. We did find one very nice leather recliner for about $600. Maybe that is a good price?

Just curious if there are any good values online? I'm sure there would be shipping.

Thanks, Randy

ps: I saw at menards the other day in "Nickbuol's" side of town , they had a brown leather(?) reclining chair for $269, it was not to bad and probably would work, but I'm leary it would hold up.
It might be worth checking in the smaller towns. Apparently it's not unusual for the stores to stock up on home theater kit, find that HT isn't such a craze out in the sticks, and clear out some really nice furniture at a great price.

A couple of friends got great deals that way.
Not sure how big Toronto is compared to Des Moines? I think Des Moines is about 1/2 a million if you include some of the suburbs. We have a place called Homemakers which is part of Nebraska Furniture Mart (most midwest folks have heard of that)...they have pretty good deals. I suppose I'll just have to keep looking. I have found some online places, including Ebay. Most of them are selling 3 row groupings and not individual recliners....

I suppose I don't need the cupholders, heck I drink my beer to fast to set it down anyway
sams club has some that look nice on there site. i purchased mine from the lazy boy gallery locally not cheap though but i like them. i will be posting pics soon almost done.

Here's some pictures of my Parents stuff...they are putting together their livingroom HT...they are almost done.

The sofa, loveseat, and recliner are KILLER! Supple leather, and each seat reclines individually with adjustable headrests.

The brand name is Ekornes. The series is Stressless. And the model is Pegasus.

Toronto is about 2-1/2 million including the suburbs... if you include all the cities that have grown together along Lake Ontario (what we call the Golden Horseshoe) it's about 5 million.
Curtis, that setup looks real comfy and nicely balanced too. Your folks runnin' an ascend speaker system as well? Looks like you've implanted one of those epson printer tv's...no?

richey...the chairs are some of the most comfortable I have sat in...I am envious. As for the Epson TV.....I got one and my Parents got a bigger one....I have a good friend that works for Epson.
In omaha, NE here. NFM has some really nice home theater chairs made by la-z-boy i've had my eye on for a while. Their clearance section here in Omaha (Mrs' B's) always has a couple in there. Might be worth checking out.

I've seen the one's at Menards as well. They scare me.

Randy,

I have not purchased any furniture yet, but I have found a few leads to (apparently) good sources. We are planning two rows of seating, but we found that the normal "recliner groupings" exceed both our space constraints and budget. On top of that, the wife wants a "sofa" for the front row.

The compromise is that the front row will be a sectional group of 3 or 4 reclining chairs configured as a sofa. By combining one-armed and armless recliners from Berkline, we can build something that looks like a sofa but functions as individual recliners. One source for these is AV Outlet.

The back row will be a raised set of real movie theater seats. I found a supplier of reconditioned Irwin seats that uses original factory fabric. The prices are great compared to new seats (which they also sell).

Since I haven't actually bought anything yet, I can't give a strong recommendation for any of the above suppliers, but I do plan to use them when it is finally time to buy.

Happy Shopping,
[yet another] Randy

Too bad you don't live here in soCal, I can get nice leather theater seating at wholesale. About $900 for a trio.
thanks Bigwill and Randy #2

I plan to also have 2 rows, with the back row being elevated. We currently have a nice Eddie Bauer (?) reclining couch we plan to put in the back row. Since my wife wants something we can eventually move around in case we have company that wants to visit, NOT, she wants the front row to consist of 3-4 seperate recliners. I found some leather lazi boys locally the other day on sale for $399 in 4 different colors. They don't have cupholders, but I can find something to set between them to hold my cold ones
