Some time ago someone had posted pics on a "Death Star" shaped subwoofer. I think at that time I mentioned that the sphere is supposed to be the "ideal" shape for a subwoofer. B&W has come up with a model based on this (I don't think anyone else has). It is very cool and it almost looks like something that belongs in the 50's era.

If not for the WAF, I'd consider buying it.

i saw those pictures..and i saw whole Home Theaters based on Star Wars ship themes...they were REALLY cool i must say. that B&W sub has been around a while, i dunno if they modeled it after the deathstar one..but it looks good. i have never heard it, but i sure would like to. if the ROUNG shape really is the best way to go...i wonder why no one else makes one???

I suspect it is a marketing decision. It is a lot easier to make a box-shaped sub to "match" other speakers than a sphere.

They should have a hook option that would allow hanging from a joist off a spring isolator. But then again, that would be too much of a temptation for the littel ones to use as a swing.

Here is a link to a guy that custom built a sub and posted it on Ebay.
