Anybody have any experience with this new technology yet?

I see that Marantz receivers are offering dolby headphone at the midlevel receiver.

I watch many movies at night (while others are sleeping) so this would be a great feature for me, but don't know if its worth turning in my current Onkyo for a Marantz

I wonder if somebody is going to make an external Dolby Headphone decoder. That would be cool.

I don't think that I would trade out receivers for that feature alone, but I really like Dolby Headphone. Much like yourself, I listen at night with the family sleeping. DH will not match a solid 5.1 system, but in my opinion, it blows away the best of systems if you are forced to listen at greatly reduced volumes.

Supposedly the "best" dolby digital decoding headphones available. About $1000 USD.
Dolby Headphone technology at least allows you to use a decent set of headphones (like Grado) at a fraction of the cost but then you have to "put up" with the cord. Not a big deal I'd say.

Since you seem to have the knack at finding dolby headphones. . .

How about some corded ones as opposed to the cordless. (All things I have heard say cordless just isn't quite up to par compared with corded).

That is true for all but the Audio Technica headphones. But then again, not many people really want to spend that kind of coin on a headphone system.

Apparently the new Sony wireless headphones are supposedly quite good as far as not losing the signal.

Some products like Pioneer's SE-DIR2000C Dolby Digital Surround Headphones have a headphone jack to make them "wired" so you have the best of both worlds.
