When I turn down the volume I can here a hum from my new speakers. Is there a filter that will take care of this.
What speakers are you using, and are you using an amp?
My speakers are
M80
QS4
VP100
EP175
Denon AVR 975 with all Viper speaker cables
I will give it A try
Thanks
Hi Frogspawn,
While you're at it, here are some updates to that article of mine on hum problems:
First, try disconnecting your subwoofer from the coaxial sub cable from your AV receiver. Does the hum go away? If it does, then the ground loop is entering from your AV receiver/video gear.
Before you try any of the hum isolation devices I recommend, first try plugging the subwoofer into a different AC outlet in the room, ideally one that is not on the same circuit as your AV receiver and video equipment (TV, DVD player, sat or cable TV box, etc.) That may solve the problem. If it doesn't, see if the back panel of your sub has a "ground-lift screw". It will be labeled as such. Just remove it. That may remove the hum.
If not, try these:
Cable-TV systems are seldom at "zero ground potential", which means you'll get ground-loop hum when you integrate any audio-video gear with a cable-TV or satelllite feed.
Try ordering one of these video ground isolators and install it in-line with the cable before it enters your set-top cable-TV box:

IF that still doesn't elimiinate the hum, you could try one of these from Radio Shack, which goes between the subwoofer and the coaxial cable from your Denon:

I would first try the in-line video ground isolator from Parts Express.
Let me know how you make out. With persistence, all ground-loop problems can be solved.
Regards,
The hum is comming from the Subwoofer. If I uplug the RCA cable to it the hum goes away. I will try the Coax filter first

Is not compatable with DTV recivers. The signal on some of the channels will not pass through the device. Just a FYI
My sub causes a hum as well. I solved it with a 49 cent cheater plug.
