Now make me feel better about this!! I am replacing a Yamaha Rx V2400 that has been fine, but I felt I wanted more power on 2 channel and also I like HK's bass management. Does anyone have any advice on how to navigate the HK setup? I've heard it can be challenging. Any quirks I need to know about? Just looking for general feedback and assurance that this was an upgrade from my previous AVR.
Forgot to mention my speaker setup.
Oooh...that's a very nice system! Let us know what you think of the sound of the Axiom's with your HK. Out of curiosity, what are you currently using to drive the speakers? Also, we like pictures here (well, at least I do!), so when you get everything situated, please feel free to post some.

All of those in favor of allowing Mary to represent us in the "do we or don't we like photos here" topic, please raise your hand!

I'm raising mine, you just can't see it
I would just like more pictures of Mary!

Hand is up!
Oh, pleeaase! It doesn't get any better than what you already see!
Both hands up!
I’m running my M80’s with a 7300. Great machine…..

The only ‘quirks’ are the channel settings. Everything else is pretty straight forward. Just take your time and read through the manual as you go. The manual is written very well and easy to understand as long as you don’t speed read (like I do, when I actually try to follow directions).

The one thing I found with the channel settings is that you need to set up each surround setting. When you do this, you need to go out of the master set up menu, change the AVR’s surround setting, go back into the menu and re calibrate the settings. Oh hell, you’ll figure it out……..to hard to try to explain how to do it. When you get it, ask again and I’ll try and help. The meter on the remote sucks. I’d suggest you get one from Radio Shack. You’ll also need a test disk to set up the sub; the HK does not have white noise for LFE.

It drives the 80’s without a whimper to deafening sound levels. The video processor works pretty damn good too. My SDTV looks much, much better through the 7300. DVD processing will depend on your player. You should try both the player and the AVR to see which you prefer. The video set up options are endless.

The only complaint I have is that stinking fan. It’s on all the time and I can hear it at low volumes. Not an issue when watching the TV or listening to music, but it is irritating just knowing it’s on. And no, it’s on whenever the machine is on.

You’ll love Logic 7.

Oh, and it’s heavy…….and big……..

Well, I feel I speak for many of the members when I say "what we see already is..................................................................WOOF!"
I'm sure he doesn't mean that in the "who let the dogs out" sense. Jack, I feel you should be more specific lest your intended meaning be lost....

(P.S. I seem to like the word "lest" today...)
If I get more specific I'll either get my face slapped, or get arrested.
I think I should make it clear that I'm old enough to be Mary's father. That being said, I think she's a very attractive young woman, and if I were 10 years younger.....................................OK, OK.....................................20 years younger, I'd be chasing her around the water cooler.
Still with a walker.

Twenty years only goes so far.
LOL. Ajax is our very own Rodney Dangerfield.
Don't have the 7300 but i the 2005... don't be scared not a big deal. The only thing I did not get at the beginning is you have to tell each device what surround sound set up it uses... I was used to cheapies that stayed on surrond hall for instance. ON HK you can tell DVD to be on logic 7 (its great as mentioned above) and CD o to be on stereo...

other than that... not hard... read the manual

Oh, my remote had a build in spl meter/ auto calibation that worked very well when compared to radio shaq spl meter.... you may want to just use that for the time being...

I can't speak to the 7300 but if the setup is similar to my 630 it won't be a big deal. I love my AVR.
Best of luck and enjoy!!!!
Awesome choice.
I have a 7300 powering 2x M80, EP500, vp150, and 4 QS8's.
This thing makes my house shake.
You will not be dissapointed.
Question did any of you guys buy the 7300 refurb from harmon? if so would you do it again? the 7300 has been calling me for a while and it is now getting louder i can get it from onecall for $1127.00 with free shipping or between $900 - $1000 from harmon for the refurb. after writing this i think new from onecall looks like a no brainer.
My understanding is that the refurbs from harmon come with full warranty. I would go for it myself. I have an older HK it is very nice, never a problem and the manual is very well written and clear. Just keep it handy, it is not intuitive unless they have changed from the AV310. I would swear by HK even today. I have both HT and 2 channel HK. The 2 channel is 15 years old and is still cranking it out.

Bought mine from One Call with their three year extended warranty. It replaced my 7200 that I also bought from One Call. I can’t say enough good things about that company. Their customer service is on par with Axiom.

I get nervous buying used/refurbished electronics.

I’d like to know if any of you other 7300 guys figured out a trick to easily set up the channels. And that damn OSD. It won’t pop up on the boob tube along with whatever I’m watching through component. I have to view it through a separate coax output.

And what difference does setting the bass manager from L/R / Center / Surround??? I can’t tell a thing when I change it back and forth. And the tone, what dif is in or out?

Oh hell, if you got it all figured out, why don’t you just come pay me a visit and set mine up?? I’ll take you fishing.

I actually did purchase myt 7300 from their EBAY Store.
The first one was damaged, but they arranged for a new delivery express and picked up the old one. I am a happy camper now...almost going on one year with it. A good way to save some bucks. And its got a full warranty...so nothing to worry about.
My 630 is a refurb from the HK store on ebay. Going on three years now, been great.
