I've searched AVS and haven't really seen a good answer. For anyone else using these disks how do you adjust tint. When I connect my DVD via component 480p the tint controls aren't available. When I use 480i they are available. The issue is my satellite and is HDMI and my new DVD player will be DVI.

How do you guys/gals calibrate tint over HDMI/DVI/480p inputs? My set has color tones of cool1, cool2, normal, warm1 and warm2. Do you recommend changing these to best match tint on Avia then tweak the color so all 4 bars are as best as they can be?
bump....

hopefully someone can help you Chicago. If i understand you correctly you can only access your televisions tint controls when you have your DVD player set to output interelaced? That seems very strange...I know from my experience I didn't have any trouble adjusting tint using the Avia disc.

As far as the colour tones are concerned, you should set your TV to normal/neutral before you attempt to adjust any other settings.

From Samsung manual:

Tint doesn't work in PC, DVI, HDMI or 480p component or higher modes.

If adjusting the tint does not fix your problem, you can try adjusting the MCC (My Color Control) function. For instructions on adjusting the MCC function

That's weird. I have a Panosonic 42" plasma and tint works in all the modes.
This is normal, the Tint control was a correction fix for the loss over lower bandwidth analog connections. It should not be necessary to adjust it on component or digital signal paths. The image passed in these forms should be balanced without any correction.

From Joe KAne's DVE:
"The picture quality you see on your set is going to be partially determined by the adjustment of the front panel controls, including Brightness, Contrast, Color, and probably Sharpness in the component input. The Tint control should not be active when using the component input but will be important if you use the S-Video or as last resort, the composite video input. "
I thought it was odd as well. Using Avia I can get the saturation panels pefect but not the hue boxes. The only options I have are the 5 preset settings, cool2,cool1,normal, warm1, warm2. I've tried all 5 and playing with the color but can't get hue and saturation to be perfect.

The my color settings are pretty much useless. When you access that mode it throws a default test image on the screen. You can't adjust these with any source imput.

You should consider having your DLP ISF calibrated. The guy I use is Gregg Loewen of Lion Audio/Video Consultants. He's calibrated my Samsung DLP twice and does a great job. He will be in your neck of the woods in May, I think. It's not an inexpensive process, but it's well worth it.

You might do an ISF-Trained Dealer Search to see if you can find somone local who might be less expensive. However, I had a local guy do mine, and he did a lousy job. Gregg knows what he's doing.
