my living room measure's 25x25' with a 12' cathedral cieling. Is the Epic Grand Master 350 to small or just right?...please help. My receiver is a Pioneer Elite VXS 81, capable of 7.1 but would like to create just a 5.1 system
If you have the budget, that size room could use 80/600 system.

In any case, an upgrade to the EP500 would be wll worth the cost. It's in a different league than the 350.
I can't comment on the M22s for mains but that is a pretty big room.

My living room is 15' x 16', 20'+ cathedral ceiling and the 12x10x8 dining room is open to it for additional space that probably gets close to yours. I was more comfortable in going with the M60s to fill that much space but some M22 owners here can fill you in better than I.

The M60's do a superb job by the way. I am very happy with my choice, helped along by folks in this forum.
It also depends on whether your system is going to be set up in one corner of the room or using the entire room, and what kind of volume levels you are looking for. The issue is pretty simple -- if you want high sound pressure levels in a large area you need to move lots of air and that means bigger speakers. On the other hand larger speakers cost more if you don't want to compromise sound quality.

If you want high quality sound at "reasonable" volumes then the system you picked should be fine. If you want to "rock the house" with movies or loud music then something larger would probably be a good idea.

If you are setting the system up so that the listening area is only a portion of the room then a bigger sub would be your first priority.

Can you describe the kind of listening you are expecting, and maybe another system you have seen/heard that seemed to deliver the kind of sound "experience" you are looking for ?

I'm asking because there are HUGE differences in listening habits between people, and that affects the kind of system they need. As an example, I was really happy with an M2-based system for movies at moderate volumes (albeit with a big subwoofer), and it was only really music playback that pushed me to M60s.

Having said that, once I *had* the M60s and started cranking the volume on movies I was astonished. It just depends on how much you are going to reach for the volume control and say "Hey, listen to THIS"
That room is way too big for a 350 from what I've read. EP 500 minimun I would think. If that is too steep for your budget consider a HSU and SVS they have several quality subs inbetween the 350 and EP500 price range.
Our rooms are pretty close in cubic feet.

I had a 350 in my 30ft x 31ft x 9ft room for some time. It did a good job, but the 500 did a much better job. I now own a 600, which does a better job than my 500.

I would like to thank all the folks for taking the time to assist me in spending more money...LOL...M60,QS-8,VP150, but I'm looking at the HSU for the sub...BY the way, I like my jazz music and movies with the volume to the right. I'll have my hammer and nails ready.. :
Keep in mind Vic if you order from the Factory Outlet you save 10%, PLUS, if you order 5 or more items from Axiom, you always get the normal 5% off. This may help in your decision. The 500 is killer, and if having matching colored speakers, you may want to rethink the 500.

The 60's rock dude.

Well partner....buying is the easy part, trying to convince the wife to spend $1200:00 on a sub..I know she'll veto that idea, but it's all coming together. I'll just have to wait a week or two more. I looked at the specs and was impressed on how low this thing will rock the walls. Thanks again for your great advice...hope to be rockin soon.
