My M60s showed up today. To say I'm satisfied would be an understatement.

So much more of...well, everything. Though I haven't had a chance to compare them directly to my M3s (need to get some more speaker cable), they sound so much more effortless in everything they do. More detail but smoother, different layers are more distinct, and the soundstage is incredible. Even from the other room I'm picking up lines that don't normally stand out. Madeleine Peyroux sounds incredible right now. The depth of the soundstage is incredible - the piano feels like it's right next to me, the guitar a little further back, drums center and further back still. Nice!

Congrats!.......welcome to THE club.

He's one step shy of THE club;\)

Once again congrats Adam, glad you are loving the new setup. Going from M3s to M60s is a huge step up, IMO.

Congrats Adam. It just keeps getting better the more you listen. Its a good 3 weeks for me and I still have permagrin.

Oh definitely. The M3 is a fantastic speaker, but the M60 just completely outclasses it. I'm very, very impressed.

Congrats! I wonder if speakers sound better when you pay for them?

That was my Coles notes version of the M22 vs. M60 audition.
It was just, so much more, so fulfilling.

Perhaps if Bren and i ever get together, we can compare his M3 and our M60s with the A/B switcher.

Very good, Adam; enjoy(of course it's obvious that you already are).

That would just mean your Audiobytes should like Bose's

Bringing this thread back to rave a little more. Both housemates are out of town for the day, so after a more thorough calibration session with the Avia disc, I've had the M60s cranked up all afternoon. I've been on a classical kick - Horowitz in Moscow, Brahms' German Requiem, Beethoven String Quartets Op. 127 & 131 & symphonies 6 & 8, and right now I've got a little Jacques Loussier playing. Good Lord these M60s are incredible. \:D The detail these resolve in comparison to the M3s is really something else - all the different layers of sound are much more distinct with the M60s - and they don't lose their focus even when the volume gets uncomfortably loud, regardless of the ensemble size too. And I've cranked these to where it's uncomfortably loud in the next room. ;\)

Its just amazing isn't it. I've had my system for a month now and I am still blown away by the sound.

I put on a disc of Bach cello pieces tonight. The sound was just so detailed and rich, like the cello itself.

I don't dare crank my M80s up all the way. I like where I live, for now(guy across the hall got told yesterday morning).

Very good, Adam. Now how are they with La Sacre?

I do not know about the M60's but the M80's sound so sweet now, that I will never go back to my beloved M3ti, also tried the M50'S, and I prefer the M80's...
Posted By: AdamP88 Re: From M3 to M60 - 07/07/08 12:57 AM
Definitely. I loved my M3s and even found them better than the M50s in a direct comparison, but as good as they are the M60s and M80s are way, way better.

Yesterday I listened to Radiohead's latest, In Rainbows, and was toying with Neo6 and PLII surround music modes. To my astonishment, I actually got more convincing 3D imaging in straight stereo. That made me smile. \:D

So you traded in the ol' M3s?
Posted By: AdamP88 Re: From M3 to M60 - 07/07/08 01:18 AM
Yep. M3s are a little too big to be rears, and wouldn't fit on the desk for computer speakers.
Posted By: CV Re: From M3 to M60 - 07/07/08 01:23 AM
Someone's never heard of big rears?
Posted By: pmbuko Re: From M3 to M60 - 07/07/08 01:39 AM
I like big surround speakers and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
That when a box walks in with an itty bitty tweeter
And a round woofer in your face
You get sprung

Dork.
Posted By: onn Re: From M3 to M60 - 07/07/08 03:00 AM
So I guess that my M80 surrounds would be extra-large rear ends
Posted By: AdamP88 Re: From M3 to M60 - 07/07/08 05:05 AM
Heh. Well you've got the space for em. Trying to work those in my room would make the natural walking path an obstacle course.
Posted By: fredk Re: From M3 to M60 - 07/07/08 04:12 PM
Ha! My room is an obstacle course.
Posted By: Ken.C Re: From M3 to M60 - 07/07/08 04:13 PM
Ah, you have (a) kid(s) too, huh?
Posted By: fredk Re: From M3 to M60 - 07/07/08 04:19 PM
Only part time. His mess is contained in his room. The living/HT room is entirely my me... um, design.

Once I sell my empty 65g aquarium it will be a little better. Optimal speaker placement dictated that they be 'in the way'.

If I ever date seriously, I'm bolting the speakers to the floor first. Hmm, new product idea. Axiom speaker floor bolts. Guaranteed WAF proof.
