Hi Jan, welcome

I owned a pair of AX1.5's for about 3 months before I ugraded to the AX2's back in 1986. I loved that / those speaker lines. A simple but very nice sounding 2 way speaker with that silky smooth soft dome tweeter.

The AX1.5 is a smaller version of the AX2. This line of speakers are great for music however moving to the M60's you will be gain a flatter freq. response, and much more bottom end. Keep in mind I don't think your 1.5's are mag. shielded. So becareful putting them beside a TV if you are planning to use them for HT.

Thanks

paul

Hello Jan

You need not worry about the speakers being shielded if your TV is one of the new Hi Def units (plasma, LCD, LCoS or DLP). However, if you using an older CRT unit, keep the speakers at least 50cm away from the screen.

I'm listening also to some older Wharfedale Mach 5's and after listening to the Axiom these Wharfedales sound "vailed", nice sound but not as clear. Like the clear sound, not that much bass but for classical music who cares anyway. Diana Krall is bassy enough. Still waiting to do some more "research" on the M60's. Thanks for replying.

I now find way too many speakers sounding veiled compared to my Axioms. I do find once you are able to crank up many of these veiled speakers, they start to open up and become revealing like Axioms. I love the fact I can keep the volume lower on Axiom's and still have all the detail.
