Like many before me, my quandry is a choice between two very nice systems: the Epic 60 or Epic Grand Master. My HT will be in a 13'x20' family room with a semi-vaulted ceiling (opening to a 13'x13' kitchen), but the average listening/viewing distance from the L/R speakers will be only about 10 feet. Will this be a problem for the M60ti? It appears the minimum recommended distance for them is around 13 feet. I'd prefer tower speakers (M60ti), but I don't want to choose the "wrong" HT system for my room size. Please advise... thanks!

gordo, i have the epic 60 system. room measures approx 16x22, w/cathedral ceiling. m60's are on either side of ent. center, about 3 feet on either side. my sub is about 10 ft away from ent center. sounds great; my wife enjoys loud music too. our only problem is that the cd player will skip sometimes when it's loud and song is bass laden. go for it and crank it up!

I am probably at most 9 feet away from my M60s and it's still great. It's not an ideal setup, they're further from each other than they are to me, but they still make a nice soundstage. Hardly ideal, but like you I wanted floorstanders.

The speakers don't disappear into the room but that's not the point for me. The point is to rock!

I don't think you'd regret the "wrong" choice. My 2 cents.

Our 60's are 10 ft away in our 23X13 room. They sound perfect. Make sure you get the VP150 instead of the 100. You'll appreciate the upgrade immensely.

I agree with duffin.
My M60s are about 8 feet away, with no room for adjustments, and setting up the soundstage is difficult. It is not ideal.
I am expecting the next time they are put into a room i will allow for at least 10 feet distance and more left and right room for placement.

I recommend going with the M60ti. The 10' distance won't be a problem with either set of speakers. I have very similar room dimensions, also opening up to a kitchen to the rear (not to mention other rooms to the side). I originally ordered the M22ti, which I compared side-by-side to the Athena AS-F2 floor-standers ($600/pr.). I used both with a 10" active sub with a 250-watt amplifier. My receiver is a Denon 3803. With the M22ti, I tried crossovers at 60 and 80 Hz. I used a 40-50 Hz crossover with the Athenas, which have dual 8" woofers. I was very impressed with the M22ti. It was the clear winner vs. the Athenas in imaging, sound staging, and in performance from the midrange and up. However, I ended up preferring the overall sound of the Athenas because of the superior bass performance. After hearing both sets of speakers, I wanted the best of both worlds. After talking to Joe and Brent at Axiom, I decided to order the M60ti. I've only spent a couple of hours listening to them, but so far I'm very impressed. They perform like the M22ti but with much more bass. Given your room dimensions, apparent preference for floor standers, and apparent willingness to pay the price difference, I don't think you can go wrong with the M60ti.
