Hello. I am about to place an order for a pair of M22ti's. I only have an old Sony receiver in mediocre condition, and I am looking to upgrade to a quality stereo integrated amplifier (not A/V) to compliment the speakers. I live in a small Manhattan studio, the dimensions of which are 12x15. I listen to rougher varieties of rock and jazz and generally prefer my music on the edgey side. Among the new integrated amps from Rotel, NAD, and Denon, or from any other quality manufacturer, could someone recommend one that performs particularly well with the M22ti's? With an apartment of the size of mine, should I go with a 40 watt per channel amp, or with something more powerful? I would like to spend between $300 and $1000 on the amp. I appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Todd Rogers

NAD c340.

for the price, i would find it hard to buy any other int. amp. probably pick one up used on ebay for a pretty good price.

I would suggest taking a look at Creek Audio's integrated amps. They are very nicely built and have a sound that would work well with with your M22's.

You can find their stuff used on Audiogon or Ebay, as well as at a local dealer. I've heard nothing but good about their integrated amps, so you probably can't go wrong.

Good luck,

also a very very nice choice. check out www.spearitsound.com if you are interested in something from creek audio, but do not have a local dealer. I have ordered from them on a few separate occassions, great service.

Well this may be too late, but I have a stereo-only setup with my M22s. When I was looking for an amp, I wanted something powerful and with preout/main in jacks so I could plug it into a surround receiver in the future.

I narrowed it down to a Yamaha integrated amp (I think they only sell one), and the most powerful Harman Kardon receiver, the HK 3470 (now the 3475 I believe). Both retail around $500.

I have the HK 3470 and I love it; definitely no shortage of power for bookshelves. For lower powers, I would also recommend NAD, Creek, and Cambridge Audio. Cambridge Audio has a unit for around $500, the A500, which got a Class C recommended in Stereophile. This is excellent for the price.

With all these lower-powered amps, I'm sure there's a lot more detail than with my HK, and I think the M22s would make good use of that detail given their excellent value/$.
