I just inherited a pair of 2-way JBL L-20T bookshelf speakers. One of the tweeters sounded blown (very little output), so I bought a new tweeter and installed it. It worked fine for a week, then it blew out as well. What could be the problem here? A bad capacitor or something? I'm using a high quality receiver and not overpowering these speakers.
Thanks in advance.

GS, welcome. A good receiver with reasonable clean power capabilities, say anywhere in the 100 watt area, should drive those speakers at all safe(to your hearing)levels with no damage to the tweeter. Your suggestion of a possible bad capacitor(in the speaker crossover)would allow bass frequencies through to the tweeter and damage it. That's a good guess and I don't have a better one.

Thanks for your reply.
The first owner of these speakers drove em with a 55 watt/channel receiver and probably blew the crossover and the tweeter out with under-powering.
My receiver is 100 watts/channel, so if the new tweeter blew, then something in the crossover is bad.
Now I have a good reason to buy a used pair of Klipsch again!!

Or a new pair of Axioms. You'll be glad you did. I'd probably go with the M3's if I wanted small and wasn't going to buy a subwoofer.

You've got 30 days to send them back for a refund.

Well, I kick myself for not buying a used pair of Klipsch Heresys here recently, with a local pickup, for just $150!
Okay, I'll check out the Axioms....
