Hi,

Which speaker would you recommend if one is listening primarily to vinyl. My room dimensions are 20'x24' with one 1/2 of the none listening space a (20'x12') cathedral ceiling. My setup is a Peter Bath designed AMC3050a integrated amp (Peter was the principal designer of the venerable NAD 3020) which has 45 watts per channel and a Rega Planar 3 TT. The speakers can be placed about 8' apart in the front center of the room.

Thanks

This is interesting in that I also have a 20' x 24' room with catherdaral cielings. I use the M80s and do play vinyl. The M80s work very well in this environment for vinyl. I think that if you stay with one of our floorstanding models this would be best unless you were thinking of a sub-woofer also. If possible for your budget I would look at the M60s or M80s. The big advantage to the M80s is that you will get more from your amplifier in what is a pretty big space to fill.

If I go subwoofers, what combination makes sense to you??

You have a well balanced system: high current, stable amp, a good source, and a difficult acoustical challenge. Your challenge will be determining placement for proper sound reproduction. The subwoofer should be added to a music system (as opposed to home theater) to improve an already good pair of speakers. Either listed will do a wonderful job, with higher marks for the M80.

Just curious, is the Rega green? What arm and cartridge are you using? I have long had a great fondness for this table with certain arms and pickups!

Hans how is that integrated amp. I'm looking for an integrated amp and was told I should look for something with at least 50 watts per channel. I'm looking at the m3ti or the m22, so I guess if Ian says your amp if enough for the 80 I would be fine if I get that amp.
It would totally fit my budget as well, plus I want a phono input for my turntable. I was looking at the Cambridge A500 65- watt integrated amp, along with their D500E CD player.
I'm curious if you have any expereince with the AMC CD8b CD player because it's half the price of the Cambridge one I'm looking at.

If you only want to use one sub-woofer I would suggest the EP350 just because of the size of your room. Alternatively I would suggest getting an EP175 and see how it is for output in your room and with your system. If you feel you need more you can then add a second EP175.
