I didn't want to hijack the thread regarding the five favorite symphonies, but I've wanted to post this for a few weeks... Then, I always get sidetracked thinking about the future arrival of the Axioms!

Anyway, since I'm new to hi-rez and multichannel sound, I've been pretty disappointed in the "smallish" number of discs out there. I've certainly found more on the net than at local stores, but it still seems like I'm more aware of what's NOT available over what IS!

So I've found myself thinking of the SACD/DVD-Audio discs that I'm mostly keeping an eye out for, and thought I would share my "Top 5", (in no particular order):

Tom Petty - Wildflowers: My favorite Tom Petty album, and I think the acoustic stuff will sound great on my Axioms- especially if remastered!

ColdPlay - A Rush of Blood to the Head: My favorite album of the last couple of years. Piano never seems to sound right on any of my current speakers. I'm curious to see how the Axioms do.

Steely Dan - Aja: This and Hotel California are probably my two favorite albums, but HC has been released! Wanna hear those drums on the title track on my new subwoofer and M60s!

Don Henley - End of Innocence: I don't love every song on here, but enough to make it an old standby!

Stevie Ray Vaughan - In Step: I'm a huge SRV fan, and have Texas Flood and Couldn't Stand the Weather already on SACD. This is one of my preferred SRV releases.

Anyone??

i would like for them to remaster some old RUSH on SACD.. maybe moving pictures, or hemispheres. and, maybe some classic rock like BOSTON or TRIUMPH.. those guys had some rather intricate melodies that will transulate very fluid into a well mixed SACD.

just my opinion....

Boston's first one is available...

I almost bought it yesterday!

The Boston is available, but only in stereo.
I bought it thinking it was multi channel, only to find out otherwise when I got home. It still sounds good, but not a noticeable difference from a standard cd.
Is this a wish-list of stuff you'd like to see released as multichannel recordings, or stuff you'd like to see in SACD/DVD-A even if it's only released as two channel?

I can think of a few dazzling-sounding albums that would probably give me flashbacks if they were released as multichannel recordings. Laurie Anderson's Strange Angels immediately comes to mind. I'll add more as they occur to me...
My SACD/DVD-A wish list...

Prince - Purple Rain
Prince - Parade (Under the Cherry Moon)
Prince - Sign O' the Times
(honestly I'd like every Prince album remastered for 5.1, but these three are my top picks)
Moby - Play
Madonna - Erotica
Simon & Garfunkel (their entire collection)
The Propellerheads - Decksanddrumsandrockandroll

spiffnme-
Seems like I saw some Simon and Garfunkel last time I was looking.
I'm not positive it just seems like I saw some.
I'll check shortly.
A couple of obvious ones would be Sgt. Pepper's and The Wall.

Here are a few more I'd love to hear in multichannel:

Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
Peter Gabriel - Peter Gabriel (Melting Face)
Emmylou Harris - Wrecking Ball
The Kinks - Lola vs. Powerman & The Money-Go-Round, Pt. 1
The Kinks - Muswell Hillbillies
Van Morrison - Astral Weeks
Aimee Mann - Bachelor No. 2
Lou Reed - New York
Richard Thompson - I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight
The Tragically Hip - Fully Completely
The Who - Who's Next
