I am looking at getting teh epic 60 home theater system, but adding the larger center channel the VP 150...I am debating switching out the EP 350 for the EP 500...is this overkill? Cost is a factor. is there going to be a huge difference in sound and range to justify the larger sub or will I be fine with the EP 350? My main goal is for there to be no distortion on the lower end of the range during movies...

I'd say it depends on the size of your room. I have the exact same setup - M60s, QS8s, a VP-150, and an EP-350. In my 18x12x10 room, it does the job perfectly well. I'm sure others will have their own thoughts. And, as always, YMMV!

I will say this. if you get the ep350 and dont like it you can send it back and upgrade to the ep500. i just confirmed yesterday that if it is before the 30 day return you will not pay return shipping on UPGRADES. so my vote (which is what i did) goes for get the 350 and see if you like it.

Call Axiom with the dimensions of your room and ask their advice. Unless you have a very large room, I'd be really surprised if the EP350 was not adequate.

Adequate? What's that got to do with anything?

I'm going to chime in here with Enginejoe;
I have exactly what he has, and I think it does an incredible job.
The EP350 blends in beautifully with the M60's on music, and I just turn it up a bit for HT. I find myself shaking my head when reading so many of the posts from the sub crowd. I know everyone has personal preferences, but I have my EP350 in a pretty good sized room, (14X28 or so w/ vaulted ceilings at the end where the system is set up) and it simply blows me away! [censored], last night I ended up in the doghouse because my girfriend was sleeping and I had Pirates of the Caribean on, and it woke her up three times, rattling things on the wall in the bedroom, and I know that I did not even have the sub set past 1/3 on the volume.
I too was on the fence between the 500 and the 350, and now that I have the 350 dialed in, I just cannot imagine wanting anything more.
But, as they say, that is just one man's opinion! I'm sure the Sub crew will begin shouting me down any moment now!

I have the EP350 sub as well Seabear in a approx 21x16' room with part of one wall open to the dining room. I'm amazed at the sound this thing puts out. I know it's human nature to always want the "next thing" up the food chain but as far as this sub goes I have no regrets at all.

As has been mentioned in the posts above, the 350 does an incredible job and while I had it, enjoyed it tremendously. It produces solid bass response with music and when playing movies, can add good impact. The only thing it does not do is produce the very low LFEs, the kind that are felt but not heard. When I had it, I would turn it up a bit for movies to feel the heavy bass. With the 500 I feel the LFEs and hear the low bass. It adds another dimension for movies. If you can live without the LFEs, I'd stick with the 350.
