Has anyone used these for two channel stereo?? My situation revolves around an NAD integreted 352 amp. For the first time the other night after continuous 4 and one half hour usage, the amp shut down. I was startled to begin with. It is and has been fine since. I hadn't realized the time or loudness I was useing I guess. The NAD is 80 wpc. and I am about 12-13 feet away from my M60's. I know their is information out there about doubling power only equals about
+3db in power {I think that is correct} I have read some good things about going separate on the two channel by hooking these to my amp. I do assume you can do this? There are amp inputs on the back of my integrated.
Furthermore, I have never used a sub in two channel music. I'm wondering what would make more of a difference to me. I will tell you that I am more a treble guy and not really a bass man. Again, this is all strictly for two-channel stereo.
Lastly, I would just like to say thanks to all of you. I searched the site for amp info and also found some stuff on the Outlaw 200. I have thought about upgrading my 60's, my all purpose Pioneer CD/DVD/SACD player and now my amp. I have never done it because of alot of things "Alan" has written and the articles on the myths of cable, break-in time for speakers, 24 bit processing and the last one I read on no concernable difference between a 200$ Pioneer amp and ones that cost 10,000 in blind listening tests. So is it worth it to do the Outlaws or would a sub be better? I do have the cash now to do this. Thanks in advance.......
Bugbiten is the one that I can think of, that uses Outlaws monos, he will probably chime in soon.
Yes, power amps make a difference. Not sure about tonal characteristics, but for "true" power at least. I also noticed a huge improvement when switched from a receiver to separates (all Rotel). All these for stereo only, not sure if it applies for HT as well.

While I have not used their mono's I have the 1050 in my living HT. All I can say is there stuff is very good for the price. I would think that two mono's for stereo ought to be awesome.
By the way I lost that thread for the pioneer comparison to other amps. I anyone could post it I would really appreciate it.
I use the Monos across the front. More power is better. I believe you get a fuller and more detailed sound with more power. You also get the ability to play louder. I like the separate power supplies for each amp. I also considered the Emotiva amp from AV123 for that reason.
I listen to pure direct mode for stereo. The 80's sound great in that mode.
The monos run cool. Much cooler than my Denon.
Respectfully minded to others' opinions, I had the Outlaws with a NAD T743 and believed them to be quite a dose of overkill. Especially when 98% of the music is in the first watt. I also believe they provided bloated bass. Bass was much better when I removed them (didn't notice this only until I had listened to them for a while *and* then removed them). After I removed them, I didn't notice any dynamics degradation as well. So, consider me 100% in the JohnK camp on this one.

Yes, wife and kids were at the in-laws. I like my music loud and that night it was from around 7:30PM to 12:00AM...... I'd say for most of the time the volume was never more than 11:00-12:00 on the dial. I'd also had a few beers and the volume just got louder and louder.

im thinkin of getting some of these also...but need new receiver first (current yamaha = no pre-out)...question buy a current gen refurb, or wait for the next generation avr's with hdmi...
Todd, after reading your post, it would appear that any thought of getting separate amps would be premature at best. You say that the shutdown didn't happen before and hasn't happened since, so there shouldn't be any assumption that this'll be a problem. Also, from the long time period before the shutdown, it appears that the problem was overheating, not excessive power draw in the moment before shutdown. So, if you do anything at all it should be to make sure that the amp has plenty of ventilation room.
Although we sometimes read of supposed benefits of having more maximum power available(even when it goes unused), there's no factual basis for these views and Ohm's law hasn't been repealed. If you have around $600 that you're thinking of spending on audio, the sub that you mention would at least be of some real benefit, although you might not have any urgent need for it. The separate amps would appear to be spending without a significant purpose, since your 352 is fine and likely has more power capability(likely over 100 watts in reality)than you use. Adding another 3dB of unused headroom(i.e. to 200 watts)would be meaningless.
If you like your music loud, you might try listening to some 80s. They can be what loud is all about.

I agree. The difference is night and day. I've been thinking about going with three mono's for the front end also; or, I may just get another 200 and use both for the fronts, and a 5ch amp for the rest.
