Does anybody know how to get the music off a DVD Audio disk into an MP3 or WAV file? I am just looking for stereo here, don't need multi channel.
I just did the DVD-A version of Simple Minds and it ripped fine with WinAmp at 320kbs. Have you tried to rip it?
Now that I think about it, maybe it was a SACD but I'm at work so I can't check at the moment.
Are you sure that wasn't a dual-disc and you just ripped the CD-layer? DVD Audio can't be ripped with standard CD-ripping software. In fact, it can't be played with most computer software, either, since the audio is encrypted on the disc. The full version of WinDVD can play DVD-Audio, and I've heard there are some hacks for that software that allows it to rip the audio to WAV.
I got around to looking and it was a SACD disc not a DVD-A disc.
most SACDs have the CD layer also, so you might have just ripped off of that.
Something like
Total Recorder would probably work nicely.
Rip it to HD with decryter then convert the trcks. Should work and free.

Interesting, thanks.
The primary reason I have avoided this format is that I cannot keep it/play it on the computer, which is what I use as a source.
