Does any body know if there is an issue hooking up my M80's to a pair of RB-850's in Bridged mode?

I had issues using my 80's in bridged mode with my RB971.

Does anybody think I would hear a difference between a pair of RB850's and my 971 not bridged?

I would test sound quality myself, but that would require pulling apart my rack for rewiring. I don't really want to do that until I get some opinions.

I would contact Rotel, but I believe is a holiday in the US and I don't want to wait till Monday.

Thanks

I would have to say that you will most likely run into the same problem as you did before.I tried to find that amp on Rotels website with no luck.

If you bridge a 4 ohm speaker like the M80 the amplifier is going to see a 2 ohm load. That is really low and most amps are not going to be stable at that much of an impedance load.

Stupid question. How do you connect speakers in "bridged" mode?

While manufactures will tell you that bridging an amp with a 4 ohm speaker that the amp will see a 2 ohm load this is not correct ( thanks JohnK ).As I was told the impedance of a speaker does not change, it's the amp that has changed.

Here is an article that JohnK refered to me to explain the bridging an amp. It's a good read.

I would not use the Rotel in bridged mode with the M80s.You will likely damage the amp.

Yes, thats what I figured. Just wanted to be safe. I guess I will have to sell them.

Thanks for the input anyways.

Anybody know what kind of money I should expect for an 850 or 2.
