someone emailed me and told me my speakers are not even class "D"...what does this mean? he wanted to trade some vandersteen 2c's for my m60ti's....should i consider this trade? TIA
Posted By: Rock_Head Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/05/05 05:57 AM
Why would you want to trade your M60's? As Rodney Dangerfield (God rest his soul) said in Back to School "give me a call when you don't have any class"
Tell him to go p$$ up a rope!
Posted By: Ken.C Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/05/05 06:55 AM
It means someone was blowing smoke up your ass. Class D refers (in my experience) to amplifiers, not speakers.

Yep !
Posted By: bridgman Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/05/05 01:17 PM
Another vote for "this guy is full of it". I have never heard of "class D" except as a type of amplifier.
Posted By: Wid Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/05/05 01:35 PM
The only thing I can think of is this person is refering to the way Stereophile does their classifications.Even so he could not use this as Stereophile has never reviewed an Axiom product.
Posted By: RickF Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/05/05 01:50 PM
I always thought the M60s were classified just like the rest of the Axiom line....

1st Class!

Boy, now that ought to get me the nerdie nerd button for the remainder of the school day. Right, class?
Posted By: SirQuack Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/05/05 02:46 PM
I think the whole story is made up, think about it, why would anybody make such a rediculous offer anyway.
Posted By: twopecker Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/05/05 06:35 PM
I second sirquack's idea.
Posted By: bridgman Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/05/05 07:15 PM
Actually the Vandersteen 2C's look pretty nice.

I guess I just don't understand why the guy is (a) criticizing the M60s and then (b) offering to trade a pair of considerably more expensive speakers for them.
Posted By: Wid Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/05/05 07:18 PM

Just another Jinxism
Posted By: Jinx Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/05/05 08:42 PM
well, he said his are about 9-10 years old...and thats why he wanted to trade. so you think maybe i should consider the trade then?

I do.

Does Vandersteen offer forums?

As long as you can check them out and listen to them, why don't you tell the guy you might be interested.

Rick, like you my wife just gave me a strange look. I haven't laughed that hard in a few days. In my case it was an ice cold BUD all over my LCD computer screen. Dang I'm still laughing.

I have heard Vandersteen has a great forum.

he may be that, but he's not breaking any rules. Banning is a tad harsh, wouldn't you say?

Jinx is ok ... He gets really excited about audio stuff, and everytime he turns around, he finds something new.

Besides, the man is 6 feet, 7 inches, weighs 295, can run 5 miles and benches more than he weighs.

As far as I am concerned, he can stay ! ...

OH OH! Peter and Craig agreeing? I guess the world really IS coming to an end.

Peter that is one cute little lady in your avatar. But, I'll see your little lady and raise you one grand nephew (great nephew?)

Sorry, Jack. It's been corrected. I saw "Cute little Lady" above the photo, and, well, didn't read it very well.

I'm trying to read the boards through the tears in my eyes 'cuz now it's official. Everyone has a 500 but me!

Now you did.
Posted By: michael_d Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/06/05 04:18 PM
Everyone has the power to choose. Choose to open the thread or to not open the thread. If jinx irritates you, make your choice when you see his posts. Some of his posts irritate the hell out of me, but I know that going in and do not participate in the discussion.

Why you insist to read something that you know will irritate you is your own doing. Don’t read it just to flip the guy sh*t. If I had received some of the things you guys say to him, “blow me” would have been tame compared to what I would have said.

And jinx, if you’d put a little more thought into your questions prior to posting them, you’d probably not get the crap you do. Sometimes you make me wonder if you post what you do for your own amusement, or if you really are trying to learn. Although I continue to come to your defense, I’ll be the first in line to string you up if you’ve been doing nothing more than playing games.

Posted By: Wid Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/06/05 04:22 PM
I would have to say there should be no talk about banning Jinx.He does come across in a rather unique way but to talk banning because one doesn't like his approach. How about the next time when someone doesn't like what one of us has to say, should we talk banning then ?

Jinx, you really need to stop the comments like " blow me " to the members here or there could be a reason for them to call on a ban.
Posted By: SirQuack Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/06/05 04:42 PM
He was taking about his subwoofer, since he didn't get a 500
Posted By: SirQuack Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/06/05 04:58 PM
I agree with ya Wid, it is not for us to determine is someone should be banned or not. If a person has a problem with another user, they can always PM Axiom directly and not post bad comments on the board for everyone to see.

I don't always understand where Jinx is coming from on his questions, and many times I'm wondering if this guy is for real, or just playing games with us. I've learned to just stay away, but something keeps drawing me back to see what he has come up with next.

Later guys.
Posted By: RickF Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/06/05 05:08 PM
I've been guilty of making too many sly remarks regarding Jinx myself but I can't see any reason to ban the fellow either. Most often I go, 'Huh?', 'What the..' and 'Jeez us'... but then find myself chuckling pretty hard.

Mike:
You're right, of course.
I don't advocate banning Jinx, and previous to this, have only made one post in his direction... one in which I stated pretty much what you said: "think before you type".

My post regarding his comment with "blow me" is that, to many people, he now HAS crossed a line. People should not be banned because they don't make posts that I disagree with, but there ARE pretty universal rules in forums regarding making a personal attack or using language/phrases that others might find offensive.

Personally, I'm not offended... but I don't think it belongs in a public forum underwritten by a company that, I'm sure, would prefer a modicum (sp?) of professionalism in that there is some reflection of our behavior and our hosts image.
Posted By: SirQuack Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/06/05 07:27 PM
Totally agree MSJ, that type of language isn't even allowed on AVS. I think we need to let Axiom decide. We don't want this fine community tarnished by a few immature comments, but then again I was young once myself, about 10 years ago... ha ha

I have to ask, what kind of camera are you using? Those are very nice photos!
Posted By: pmbuko Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/06/05 09:12 PM
My brother uses a Canon 20D with assorted lenses. You can't get those kinds of pics with a point-and-shoot digital camera.

I'm jealous.

Great pics Peter / Adam. The camera is nice, but it's great to know what you're doing. I like the one of your boy. That depth of field makes the photo stand out so well.

Very nice!

Its kinda like telling a chef,
"Yea... That was a great meal, you must have really nice pots and pans."
Posted By: dmn23 Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/06/05 11:23 PM
Bray, you crack me up.

I don't know the first thing about photography, but having owned more guitars than I can count I can say with certainty that a higher quality instrument does make you want to play more. Does it make you play better? Does a better camera make you shoot better? Of course not. But if you find yourself getting more use out of it because it's a quality piece, it seems inevitable that some improvement will follow.
Posted By: bray Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/06/05 11:32 PM
Speaking of guitars.
Know anyone who wants to buy an Ovation 1861 Standard Balladeer in mint condition?
Its a beautiful guitar (sunburst blue) and plays great too. I've had a number of professional musicians play it and they loved it.
No buzzes no scratches.
It also comes with a hard case.
I have 3 guitars and cant play any of them worth a flip.
Out of the three I prefer to play the Seagull S6 Folk. {it has a bit wider fret board)
If I could sell one, I might be able to swing an EP 500.
Posted By: SirClyde Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/06/05 11:34 PM
Well said Mike. That is what I do.
Posted By: dmn23 Re: m60ti's what class? - 12/06/05 11:37 PM
Nope, can't help you there. I'm staring at three right now that don't get played nearly as well as they deserve (but they get played often...). Sutter's a musician -- maybe he can point you in the right direction.

I've just found myself newly single after almost three years, and after I get over the mopey nonsense I'll probably come to the realization that I have more disposable income than I used to. A new EP500 does sound nice, doesn't it?

Just to inflate my ego more than it has been by the kind comments in this thread (and plugging from Peter ), it's not the camera that takes the picture, it's the photographer.

Now excuse me while I try to fit my head through the doorway.

No question. I agree 100% that it is the taker, not the equipment. It parallels golf!! :-). You can buy equipment all day long and not improve your game. Trust me I know!! haha... However, the equipment gives the clarity, depth of field, etc. etc. and some of those pics were really excellent. The photographer does set the mood, capture the image, artistically puts all the components together to make a good pic, etc. Your brother or you or whoever took the shots does an excellent job!! My hat is off!!

No question about that
