I read on MSN, that a new study suggests that cd-r "burned cds" will only last about 2 years!
It went on to say that because of the material used, they don't last as long as the other formats....and suffer degeneration.

If you keep them in the dark, and in cool temperatures, they may last around 5 years. It also said hard drives, also have similar problems.

I'm sorry I can't provide the link, but I thought some of you may find this interesting.

Well, they have done it again........those think-tank guys overlooked a small detail in the rush to market.

Don't believe everything you read.

Many people have been burning CDs for probably ten years or so (including myself), and I haven't had issues or heard about others having issues either.

Sounds like another "sky is falling" report by a reporter who doesn't understand what he or she is writing about. Actually, it sounds like a "report" that would be based on an internet urban legend...
