Im going to hook up my Denon 1920 dvd/audio/sacd to the 4306 via the ext in hookups, does anyone know how I setup the audio so I can listen to sacd? I dont see a choice for ext in, only opt and coax. The only thing im using to ext in for is the sacd, I have the dvd part hooked up to hdmi and opt.
For SACD you will need to use analog cables for all channels. 6 cables if using a sub.
I have that already figured out, its the setup in the 4306 I need help with. What do I turn the 4306 to so I can listen to the ext in for sacd? (dvd,aux1,aux2,etc. etc.)
None of those, assign the external in to cd in your setup. or set the reciever to Cd and push external in on the front panel.
The advanced setup in your manual should cover it also, I believe its page 67, at least online it is.
its page 67 but there is no instructions on how to make ext in active
dumb me its on the front panel should have looked there before reading instructions
How's it sound, I went through the same thing when I set mine up also
getting my first sacd today, i will let you know.
I haven't delved into the SACD / DVD audio world yet, but if you've got a Denon DVD player with a Denon receiver, wouldn't the Denon link cable handle all needed connections?
Depends on the model. I use the link for SACD with my 3910 and 3805, very convinient.
Does it make a difference in sound quality (being that the link is digtital) as opposed to using the six analog cables?
I think it sounds better, but that's probably my imagination
HAHA! Just like when I turn off the video circuitry and display on my Denon 2900. Wow, what an improvement!
It's funny what our ears and imagination can do
no link on the 1920, as I didnt what to spend 600+ on a dvd with the link becuase HD DVD is around the corner.
SACD players (at least the one I am used to, maybe not all or newer ones) don't output the SACD over the digital connection (optical or coax), just the analog outputs.
To make sure you getting full enjoyment from SACD, connect the 6 analog cables as well as the digital (for DVD's). And make sure your player and surround sound processor are setup to output the analog signal correctly.
The new mid to high end Denons have the Denon Digital link 3 that that takes the place of the analog cables for SACD,this a soley a Denon product that got licenced several months ago.
well I didnt know how hard is was to find an SACD nobody carries them. I found a couple at Borders but nothing I wanted. I got a DVD-A, The Crystal Method-Legion of Boom. I was into these guys a couple of years ago and figured they would make my EP-500 talk. I was wrong it made it scream, WOW I will have the cops here soon. I have ordered Dark Side of the Moon off Amazon and it will be here soon. Does anyone know who carries SACD? Local shop? thanks
I order all mine over the internet. They are difficult to find in stores.
