I've had a m22/vp100/qs8 setup for a couple of years now. I know the m22s are an astounding speaker, but somehow, I find myself trying to upgrade them. I feel this urge to replace them with a floorstanding full range speaker, though I know I don't need it at all. I know the answer I'll receive from many will be the M60s or M80s, but I really would like to keep the price down in the $500-$600 range, which puts the M60s/M80s out of the picture. Since Father's Day is around the corner, I'm afraid my will is slipping and soon I will bring home a floorstander, which I will end up hating. I think I may be suffering from terminal upgraditis and there is no cure. HELP

See if Axiom will let you do a tradeup to those M60s!

litteb,

I am in the same situation as you are. My current speaker is the energy veritas 2.2, I used to have the m22 before upgrading to the energy. After hearing my uncle's m60, I want to change speaker again. The way the m60 effortlessly put out sound attracts me. My suggestion to you is to spend the extra $300 and get the m60. You won't regret it! Jerry

Terminal upgradis. Yes yes, very serious.

I've been studying your case very closely. My prescription would be to take two M60s and call(us all)in the morning.(with the results of the first listening test!)

M60s would effectively affect a cure. M80s may well add additional symptoms compounded by your banker.

Interesting.

The same diagnosis from two M50 owners.

There are only a couple more M50s types to obtain an additional opinion!!

Everyone else is not impartal and shouldn't be trusted!!

I dunno Bruce; sounds pretty serious this time!
Rich.

Bruce, this is one of those problems easily solved by time and/or money.

What makes you think a $500 pair of floorstanders is going to sound better than the $440 M22?

Since you admit liking the Axiom sound, your only real option is a pair of M60's. Go for the Factory Outlet. If you do anything less, you'll always wonder and/or kick yourself.

Call Axiom and see about an upgrade, or Ebay the M22's with a high reserve.
