Considering the Epic Grand Master Home Theatre, M22's, EP350 or 500, QS8's, VP150.
I have a Diablo C-1 Artcoustic center speaker. Will this work as well as the VP150 or am I best off to buy the whole package? Thanks!

You would want the three front speakers to timber match and the best way to insure this is to stay within the same brand.

I don’t know if the Diablo will match the M22s however it’s unlikely that it would sound as good with the M22s as a speaker made by the same manufacturer to tonally match them.

If you have the room above or below your screen you might even consider getting another M22 for a center speaker. Ideally three matching speakers across the front should sound the best and I think that the M22 actually cast a little less than the VP150.

You could then try out both speakers as centers and if the Diablo still works you could send the other one back. Though I’m not sure about the return shipping from Jerusalem.

Or better yet you could use all Axioms up front and use the Diablo as a single rear channel speaker to give you a 6.1 setup at some point if you’re not already planning to buy that many Axioms. I’ve tried that with my VP150 just for fun and it works well except that the two QS8s I already have don’t really need the help in my room.

How do you like the Samsung? I'm considering Pioneer Kuro.

Thanks Rick. I had a feeling keeping the same group would be a better idea.

I love my Samsung. I’m using it as my computer monitor as I type this. I love sitting on the couch to use the computer. The picture is fantastic. When I bought it the only better pictures I saw cost $500 USD more. I’ve had no problems with it even though it was a floor display when I got it.

One thing you might consider is that some people have had problems with mirrors shifting inside the light engine on this model which causes part or all of the picture to brown/black out. There is a thread on the AVS forum about this. I haven’t kept up on it so I don’t know if Samsung had corrected this with newer models. From reading about this Samsung hasn’t done much to take care of their customers on this issue.

The only problem I’ve had was that the screen on the air vents was to large. A fruit fly got inside once and drove me crazy for about half an hour until it disappeared. A little tape and smaller mesh over the vent has stopped that from happening again.

The only other issue I have is that this model doesn’t have picture in picture. Which is a nice feature when playing video games and you want to look something up on the internet. The workaround is just to switch inputs from HDMI to PC but it doesn’t allow me to look at both at the same time.

Technology/features are changing so fast all I can recommend is that you shop around for the best deal you can find at the time. If I were to buy a new TV today there’s no reason I would prefer Samsung or avoid them, sometimes it’s best to be a mercenary.
