I e-mailed Alan the other day and make reference to my "Bonus Room". When he answered, he said he wasn't exactly sure what a "Bonus Room" was - down here in North Carolina, that is what we call the room above the garage. The room is about 32 feet long by 14.5 wide. the knee wall comes up to about 3.5 feet and then the slope starts up to the ceiling. we have the TV - couch - love seat set up across the width and room roughly halfway down the length. So in the listening area the side walls are 8 to 10 feet away. I am saving for the Epic 60 - 500 and was wondering if anyone has anything remotely similar? If so, how hard or challenging is it to locate the base? I tend to think that the acoustics are good - but I don't really have anything to base that on. Just pondering while I wish away the time.......Rob

Rob, it so happens that we have a "bonus" room above the garage as well. It is about 20x16-18x8 with exactly the same 3.5 feet knee-wall and sloped side walls. I have the M80s at the corners, about 2 feet out , between them on a stand is the VP-150, and behind it is an EP-500. There are 4 Michaura M55s as surrounds at the sides and rears. I can tell you that the acoustics is surprisingly good in this room. I think your question regarding base relates to the challenge of sub placement. I used the crawl and the SMS-1 mic to find the right spot, which turned out to be in the mid front wall. I then spent countless hours tweaking the sub just right for that flat FR curve using the SMS-1 and some furniture placements. Your room dimensions are different, but I am sure you can find a good spot for the EP-500 as a starting point. You will be very pleased, I think, with the Epic 60-500.
