Hello! I have an Onkyo SR805 receiver and a VP150. My room is about 14x21ft. What's the concensus? I do plan on getting a HSU sub later, probably the VTF-2 MK3.

m60s for your room size

m80s = more powerful, bigger m60s

Also, the ceiling is vaulted and is about 11'9" at the point. Their is a large opening into a smaller dining room on one side fo the room as well. I would rather get the M60's for the price, but if my room demands the M80s I would get them instead. Thanks!

m60s should still be fine unless you listen to reference levels mostly - but then its not about the music quality \:\)

You have a good size room but I wouldn't think it demands the M80s. The 80s would be a great choice if the budget allows though. I think the M60s would do just fine in a room of the size of yours.

You choice of a sub is a fine one too.

I have heard of issues with the m80's and the onkyo 805 at loud volumes... not saying it would be a problem but it possibly could.

I have the m80's in about a 14x20 foot room connected to a kitchen, but the ceilings are only 8 ft. They sound amazing.

I would suggest going with the 60s and then if you still feel something lacking, send them back for the 80s, that is the way I did it, but as was mentioned, I believe your reciever might have an issue with the 4 ohm M80s at higher volumes.

Well, I got one of them in! Haha, according to Noreen at Axiom they sometimes get seperated in shipping, so hopefully the other will come later today or tomorrow. First impressions of the one- wow, this is what a speaker is supposed to sound like. I still have my old Yamaha main as a front left, and the m60 as front right. Man, can you hear a difference in the two! The Yamaha is a bookshelf that costs about 30 bucks or so, so you can imagine. The 60 sounds so full and lively. Can't wait to get that other one in! To be continued.....

\:o I hope it arrives within the next day. I would be crawling out of my skin.

The tracking website should have all the info about the split shipment.
Otherwise, I join in in wishing it will be tomorrow the latest.
Today might be time to watch a few mono movies!

I think this may have been a blessing in disguise... A forced comparison test!

Congrats on the new speaker(s)!

Hahaha, I kind of am Fred! Noreen said they actually only give one tracking number for one of the packages, I guess they assume the other one will be there with it. ?? Have you all experienced otherwise?
Posted By: fredk Re: M60's or M80's? - 10/08/08 12:59 AM
Everything arrived at once for me so I don't know. If a single M60 shows up on my doorstep I'll let you know... ;\)

Enjoy your <speaker> , hope your other arrives soon.
Posted By: terzaghi Re: M60's or M80's? - 10/08/08 12:21 PM
got my m80's QS8's, vp150, ep500 all at once.
Posted By: myrison Re: M60's or M80's? - 10/08/08 05:46 PM
Mine were all separated in arrival, and while there was one _Master_ tracking number, FedEx applied sub tracking numbers to each individual box to allow to see where each was in shipping. If they're not coming via FedEx, it might work differently, but that was how it worked in my case.

So, the one that is not here yet has the tracking number that I have been tracking on the web. And, it says it is out for delivery today! Man, now I am freakin dying for a sub. This is ridiculous, first a plasma TV, then a blu ray, then a new center, then a new receiver, now the 60's. When does it stop?!?!?!! Its....just...too...much.....fun. My wife is going to lock me in a padded room soon, I fear.
Posted By: EFalardeau Re: M60's or M80's? - 10/08/08 06:18 PM
As long as you get to keep you HT system in the padded room, that is well worth it!

And you won't room treatment.
Posted By: fredk Re: M60's or M80's? - 10/08/08 06:40 PM
You know you've gone off the audio deep end when your HT has more 'padding' than the local loonie bin?
Posted By: DaveG Re: M60's or M80's? - 10/08/08 08:09 PM
It doesn't stop, and never ends.

I hope it shows up at my place! \:\)
